Biography and career of a football player
Sergei Gurenko was born on September 30, 1972 in the city of Grodno, the Belarusian SSR. As a player, he is primarily known for his performances for the clubs “Lokomotiv” (Moscow) and “Neman” (Grodno). Also in the period from 1994 to 2006 he played for the national team of Belarus.

Club career
He entered professional football in 1989 and began playing for Khimik (Grodno), after Belarus became independent, the club acquired the name Neman.
Soon he is increasing interest from the Moscow Lokomotiv, which he joined in 1995. He played for the Moscow “railroad” the next five seasons of his playing career. Most of the time spent in the Moscow “Locomotive”, was the main player in the team.
Career in Europe
In 1999, he signed a contract with the Italian Roma, however, he could not play at the base here. In 2001, it was leased to the Spanish club Real Zaragoza, in which it became the owner of the Copa del Rey trophy.
After that, Sergey Gurenko returned to Italy, signing a contract with Parma and helped the team win the title of holder of the Italian Cup. At the same time, Sergey entered the field quite rarely, so at the end of the season he was leased to the Piacenza club, where he became a key player.
Return to Loko and retirement at home
In the summer of 2003, he returned to Lokomotiv Moscow, where he spent the next five seasons and became the two-time winner of the Russian Cup.
He completed his playing career in Minsk Dynamo, for which he played during 2008-2009.
In 2014, for some time, Sergei Gurenko returned to the football field, having spent several games at the age of 41 at the Minsk Partizan.

First entered the field for the national team in a friendly match against the national team of Ukraine on May 25, 1994. The match ended with the defeat of the Belarusians with a score of 1: 3. For some time he was the captain of the team. During his career in the national team, he spent 80 matches in the form of the country's main team, scoring 3 goals.
Career coach
Coaching started at the end of the player’s career, in 2009 he entered the coaching staff of the Dynamo club (Minsk) and soon became the head of the team.
From 2010 to 2012, he headed Torpedo-BelAZ, after which he returned to Dynamo Minsk, where he took up the position of sports director.
