Strawberries are a favorite treat of many of us. We look forward to the time when it will ripen in our beds or in large quantities and at a low price will begin to be sold in stores and in markets. In winter, if we allow ourselves strawberry pleasure, then, as a rule, the fee for this is too high. Today, when so little is left unrealizable in the world, you can grow strawberries at least year-round. You are not much surprised, are you? In fact, everything is simple: growing strawberries in an apartment is just what you need. But first things first.
The method, which will be described below, has been used by the Dutch for a long time, as a result, they collect several strawberry crops per year. And this method is nothing more than growing strawberries in plastic bags. If you want to treat your relatives and friends with this berry several times a year, and even open your small business right at home, then immediately get to work.
First you need to decide on the room where you will have bags. The size of the harvest will largely depend on its size, but even in a small apartment it’s quite possible to arrange several bags. If you have a private house, then under this business you can allocate a free room or even a garage, a barn. It is important to take into account the following indicators: round-the-clock heating, 8-12 hour lighting and periodic ventilation. If at least one of these indicators is violated, the strawberries simply will not begin to bear fruit. Just imagine, it will already be deprived of the natural conditions of growth, and if you still do not provide it with care in the room, then it makes no sense to start all work.
As mentioned above, growing strawberries at home is carried out in plastic bags. They are made of a welded plastic film (2 mm thick), which is best taken in white. The approximate dimensions of the bag are as follows: diameter - 15-16 cm, height 2-2.2 meters. Finished bags are filled with earth mixed with simple fertilizer. After that, they must be placed on the floor in rows so that for each square meter there are 2-3 bags. At the request of the bags can be put in two or even three tiers (depending on the height of the room) on pre-prepared shelves. The cultivation of strawberries in plastic bags is as follows: on the surface of each bag in a checkerboard pattern, it is necessary to make holes 7 cm long, while the distance between the holes should be about 21-25 cm.
Now you should think about how you are going to water the plants. If your plantation is small, then you can do it yourself, but if there are a lot of bags, then it is easiest to make an irrigation system, the material for the manufacture of which will be dropper tubes. Three tubules are taken and brought to the lower, upper and middle parts of the bag. The free ends of the tubes are connected to a distribution pipe, which should be located above the bags. A nutrient solution should be supplied to the plant per day in the following amount: 2 liters per bag.
When everything is prepared, it's time to plant strawberry seedlings. Make sure that it is healthy, it should not have dry and damaged leaves. It is best to buy seedlings in the fall, hold it for a couple of months in a cold room (give a little rest), and then plant them in bags. When the strawberries bloom, do not forget to remove pollen (in nature, insects do this). This is most conveniently done with a small brush.
As you can see, growing strawberries in plastic bags is not such a difficult task. Of course, you still have to work hard, because, as they say, “you can’t get a fish out of a pond without labor”. But imagine that you will succeed, and let not in a year, but in 2, but you will begin to harvest just a huge crop in such conditions. By the way, growing strawberries in plastic bags is also a profitable business. Surely you can’t eat the whole crop yourself, so you can safely sell part of it. But from a delicious homemade strawberry, there will certainly be no end to buyers.
