He trained at such youth schools as Shishkin Les and Podillia. He was later admitted to the football academy of the club “Torpedo Moscow”, which is considered a pupil.

Since 2004, he began playing for the youth squad of the Moscow Torpedo. For his good playing skills and high performance, he Pavel attracted the attention of a coach of the main team. Two seasons later, he became a member of the adult “black and white” team.
In 2007, Pavel Mamaev participated in the European Under-19 Championship. He entered the list of sixteen players who managed to score a goal at the age of seventeen in the top division of the Russian championship - this happened on April 16, 2006 in a match with the club “Wings of the Soviets”. In total, midfielders Pavel Mamaev played for Torpedo Moscow club in 44 official matches and scored three goals.
Career at CSKA
In January 2007, the footballer joined the composition of the Moscow “CSKA”, for which he made his debut in July of the same year in a home match with the club “Khimki”. He scored his first goal for the “railroad” on August 10, 2008, at the gate of the Ramensky “Saturn” as part of the Russian Championship.
In the middle of autumn 2011, Pavel Mamaev was involved in a scandal with the leadership of the “army”, as a result of which he was sent to play for the youth squad, that is, the farm club.
In 2012, Mamaev considered many proposals from European clubs regarding the transition. Among those who wanted to get a Russian midfielder was Manchester United. The transition to the “Mankunians” fell through, which is why Paul was very upset. The reason for this was a visa problem. At that time, Mamaev had not played enough matches for the Russian national team. In England, there were and are very strict laws with this, and even a football player of this level could not get around them. At the same time, Pavel Mamay was deprived of the opportunity to play as the basis of the “army”, because the misunderstanding with the leadership remained.
Transition to Krasnodar
Soon, Mamaev was given to Krasnodar under lease terms. As part of the "green" he became a major player. In a duel against the former club “CSKA” on October 27, 2013, he managed to become the author of the goal, which for the “Krasnodar” was nothing more than “prestigious”, because they lost with a score of 5: 1.
In anticipation of the new season, the leadership of Krasnodar decided to redeem the contract of a football player. The official transfer took place after the completion of the autumn part of the domestic championship.
On April 16, in the ½ final of the Cup of Russia against Moscow, CSKA helped his team win with a score of 0: 1 and was seriously injured. As it turned out later, Mamaev received an Achilles tendon rupture, as a result of which he dropped out for six months. By October, the footballer recovered and got into the Europa League match with the English Everton.
Public scandal after a noisy party in Monte Carlo
In July 2016, Pavel Mamaev, in the company of football player Alexander Kokorin, spent a noisy evening in one of the expensive nightclubs of Monte Carlo. All this happened immediately after the departure of the Russian team from the European Championship 2016. Football players allowed themselves to order 500 bottles of elite champagne “Armand de Brignac”, for a total amount of 250 thousand euros.
Against the background of this gesture, there was a public outcry. Kokorin and Mamaev received a lot of criticism and censure in their address. The leadership of the Krasnodar club considered the behavior of Pavel Mamaev “outrageous and unacceptable”, so he was transferred to the farm team.
