When was the zoo in Ivanovo founded?
Back in the 80s of the last century, a small zoo corner was opened in the city Palace of Pioneers and Schoolchildren. Here, children could watch animals, learn to care for them and listen to lectures on nature. At the Palace of Pioneers, a circle of young naturalists was also opened. Initially, the animal exhibition was located in only two rooms. As live "exhibits" there were kept hamsters, rabbits, parrots, turtles and monkeys. The collection of the zoo was replenished, and already in 1992 a separate room was allocated.
Immediately after the move, teachers and children attending the circle seemed to have a huge new territory. However, it soon became clear that there was not enough space for all the animals. In 1994, it was decided to create a “City Children's Zoological Park”. Construction began on the land allotted for the project. And the work of the Ivanovo Zoo for visitors was launched in 1996.

Opened at such a difficult time for the whole country, the Ivanovo Zoo survived really hard times. At times, there was not enough money for animal feed and staff wages. In total, in the zoo you can see more than 150 species of animals living in the natural environment in different parts of the world. The total number of individuals is more than 800 units. During a visit to the main city exhibition of world fauna, you can see leopards, bears, bison, lynx, fallow deer, monkeys, peacocks, owls, pheasants and many other exotic animals. Visit the zoo in Ivanovo in the summer from 10:00 to 20:00, and in the winter from 10:00 to 15:00. During school holidays, the zoo is open seven days a week. Monday and Tuesday are weekends during school hours. Ticket sales stop an hour before the end of the zoo. Children under the age of 5 can visit the animal exhibition for free. The cost of a full ticket for adults is 150 rubles. Entrance for students, seniors and children over 5 years old costs 100 rubles.
Ivanovo Zoo allows visitors to take pictures of their own equipment without restriction. The only requirement is to turn off the flash, as it can blind animals. Follow the rules of behavior, try to behave calmly and not scare animals. Feeding animals without permission from the zoo is prohibited.
