I met the Asya story when I was about ten years old. Since then, I consider her the best work of first love. Rereading it from time to time and admiring the skill of Ivan Sergeyevich Turgenev, I keep in my memory the eternal images of sadness and joy, contempt and inspiration, inner breakdown and desperate faith.
This work captivated me with its purity, sincerity, liveliness of characters, so I really want to describe to you its brief content. Asi was not next to the main character when he realized that he loved her. I believe that this is the main event that the author wanted to tell the reader about. Thus, Turgenev learned from the past, but still remains a mystery: from his experience or from the past of his fictional hero, whose life is bizarrely intertwined with the life of the prototype of this character.
Summary of Asi, like the story itself, begins with a meeting in a German town where the main character came to rest. From Russia to Germany, in the same place, by coincidence, a Russian couple came to rest: Asya and her brother. There, these three characters of a love story met.
It is impossible not to include in the summary of Asi my praise for how the author skillfully describes everything around him: nature and all the actions of people play the role of a frame for precious human experiences that are precious in importance. The contradictions that arise in the soul of the protagonist over who Asya is, what her life was, cover up her artistic image with mystery , ultimately idealizing her feelings in the eyes of the reader. Turgenev slowly but surely awakens in the reader the attitude that the protagonist experiences to the girl.
The explanation between Asya and the main character in the final part of the story was penetrating, but, like many dramatic moments, it is very short. Asya’s upkeep as her companion (later the main character finds out that the girl was kept by her stepbrother) influenced the formation of the world outlook of this beautiful young lady. The closed and unsociable girl eventually turned into a sweet girl: a very tender, but wild rose, which can be destroyed with just one step, or wounded her soul.
It is not so difficult to guess how Turgenev himself treated the young lady. The story "Asya", the brief content of which helps to feel the full depth of the revelation of the writer, was for him one of the most expensive creations. He felt the girl, admired her, but also understood and empathized with his main character, who, out of fear of unknown happiness, rejected the love of a young, madly in love soul.
I have always loved writers who in their books open up the whole spectrum of base and sublime human experiences. Therefore, I will never forget that the author of the story "Asya" is Turgenev. A very brief summary of the work presented to your attention in this article, I hope, does not detract from the magic of a magnificent and sensual original.
