Elena Ovchinnikova is rightfully considered to be one of the most prominent personalities in female combat martial arts. She earned honor and fame for her overwork and desire for new victories.
The beginning of a sports career
Elena Ovchinnikova, born on April 22, 1987 in the city of Dnepropetrovsk, grew up in a sports family. Her parents were keen on karate, and the girl was introduced to the sport in early childhood.
At the age of five, she began to attend the gymnastics section, then there were athletics and swimming. Badminton, tennis and basketball were not disregarded. At the age of thirteen, the young athlete discovered the world of martial arts. In the beginning there was kickboxing. Then, enrolling in college, Elena was engaged in the physical education department of the institution. At the age of 19, Ovchinnikova received an offer to speak in MMA.
The first fights in MMA
Having received an invitation to speak in the mixed martial arts class , Elena Ovchinnikova simply could not refuse, her desire for victory caught fire. Especially the girl’s excitement was fueled by the fact that her rival was to become a more experienced athlete. Firstly, she was three years older, and secondly, her experience in mixed martial arts exceeded 10 years.
Naturally, the warlike nature of a girl who was determined to win anyway pushed her forward. This attitude of Elena, of course, helped her win her first debut fight. After that, she won the winner’s laurels in the next seven MMA fights. Five of them took place in Ukraine. Fights, which were held by Elena
Ovchinnikova, Moscow watched with pleasure. The International Gala Festival was held in Belarus and the Fighters Championship, which the girl won in Austria.
Defeat period
Further for Ovchinnikova came a period of setbacks. This coincided with the collaboration with the Super Fight League (2012). Already during the promotion in India, Elena surrendered to Sanya Suchevich during the second round, in the third match she lost for the second time to Joanne Calderwood. This fact was unanimously witnessed by all the judges.
Ovchinnikova rehabilitated after two defeats only in the spring of 2013, having defeated Fatiy Mostafu in the first round thanks to the use of a choking technique.
Future plans
Ovchinnikova’s plans for the future include performances in many international organizations, for example, Bellator. Elena is also aware of the growing Invicta. But, despite the fact that this promotion concludes contracts with fairly good fighters, it still does not attract the athlete very much. Nevertheless, in the future it does not exclude the consideration of a worthy proposal from Invicta.
Many fans were eagerly awaiting the fight between Elena Ovchinnikova and Julia Berezkina, which was supposed to be held in May 2013 at the Legenda promotion. However, the expected battle did not take place, and the founders did not report the reason for the cancellation of the battle of the best women in power combat in the post-Soviet space.
The athlete performs in different styles of martial arts, but it is known that Elena Ovchinnikova loves kickboxing the most. Preference is given to shock-fighting and fighting in the rack. Her skates are K-1, kickboxing and Thai boxing.
Seven of nine victories Ovchinnikova received by surrendering opponents. In six of them, Ovchinnikova used her favorite technique - the elbow lever.
Today, many perceive women's combat in power combat with great interest than men's fights. Elena Ovchinnikova is already the owner of the following titles:
