Dmitry Cheryshev is a former Soviet and Russian footballer, player of the Russian national team. Currently, he is the assistant coach of Unai Emery in the Spanish team Sevilla.

Here Dmitry played one season (15 matches, 2 goals). The next club was Nizhny Novgorod Lokomotiv. It was a team playing in the first league of the USSR championship. In two seasons Dmitry played 61 matches and scored 10 goals. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Lokomotiv got the opportunity to compete in the first Russian championship. The magnificent game of a fast, explosive, brisk forward could not go unnoticed. In its first season, Lokomotiv took sixth place among the strongest Russian teams, and the player himself entered the list of the best strikers of the championship, scoring 4 goals in 18 matches.
Starting next season, Dmitry Cheryshev becomes a player in Dynamo Moscow by signing a four-year contract with the club. Together with the team, he becomes a two-time winner of the Russian championship, wins the country's Cup, holds the first matches in the national team. In the 1996 season, Dmitry became the third scorer of the championship (17 goals). In total for Dynamo, he spent 104 games, scoring 37 goals.
In the early 90s, the mass departure of the best Russian football players abroad began. This fate did not pass and Dmitry Cheryshev. In 1996, he signed a contract with the Spanish club Sporting (Gijon), a team in which his compatriots Igor Ledyakhov and Yuri Nikiforov had already played . For a long five years, Dmitry becomes the main player of the Gijon club. He spent 158 games in the team, scored 47 goals. As a player of Sporting, he played several matches in the Russian national team in the selection for the World Cup-98.
Dmitry finished his football career in the teams of the second and fourth Spanish division. In 2001, he played one season for the club “Burgos” (23 matches, 1 goal). In the 2002/2003 championship Dmitry Cheryshev is a footballer and playing coach of the Aranjuez team. Here, having played several of his last matches, he ended his career as a player.
Coaching career
After completing active performances on the football field, Dmitry Cheryshev moved to the capital of Spain, where he graduated from coaching courses, having received a diploma in the Pro category. From 2006 to 2010, he worked as a coach in the children's team "Real" (Madrid). Then there was a five-year period of active coaching in a number of Russian clubs. After working for a year as a sports director at the Sibir club (Novosibirsk), Cheryshev signed a contract with the Volga Premier League team (Nizhny Novgorod). Under his leadership, the club was able to maintain a place among the strongest teams of the championship and get to the semifinals of the Cup of Russia. Who would have thought that Dmitry Cheryshev, whose biography began in Nizhny Novgorod, will return home as a local club coach. Then for 10 months Cheryshev worked as a coach for the youth of the Leningrad Zenit and 7 months as the head coach of the Irtysh Kazakhstan team. Since July 2015, Dmitry Cheryshev is an assistant to the head coach of the Spanish club Sevilla.
