How did the folder for documents

It is believed that the folder along with the hole punch was invented by Friedrich Sönnecken in 1886. The improvement of this product was continued by the Stuttgart company Leitz and the company ELBA Erich Kraut. It is well known that the first document folder appeared at the end of the 19th century. In 1896, one master from Germany, whose name was Louis Leitz, came up with a way to make a folder-recorder. They were quite expensive, as they had a rather complicated mechanism for attaching documents. Emil Hurster in 1930 invented a new mechanism for such products. So a special hook appeared, which was located at the top of these folders. With his help, they were hung on a special structure, which looked like a rail and was in the closet, on the wall or in a special storage for documents. In 1959, one German company managed to release folders that had a mechanical clip inside. In such a folder for documents it was possible to store papers without punching holes in them. A similar fastening mechanism was able to hold about 60 sheets. The strength of such a clip was achieved due to the use of a special alloy in its manufacture.
Appearance
As a rule, the folder for documents has the A4 format (215 × 305 mm), its thickness is 5-7 mm. Depending on the destination, the value may be different. Quite often, leather document folders have a larger format. They are usually used for presentations at exhibitions or conferences. There can be stored price lists, business cards, product catalogs and various printed materials. Advertising folders are often made of cardboard. In addition, there is a leather folder for documents, as well as a plastic, archive, which is closed by valves on all sides. The design of the modern folder includes graphic elements that are made in the corporate style, or the company logo.

In order to store documents in such a folder, the sheets must first be pierced with a hole punch, after which they are put on special steel rods that are part of the lock.
