Large areas can impress a person. They cause delight, surprise with its significant scale. The largest in Russia is Kuibyshev Square, located in Samara. This object in size exceeds even the metropolitan Red, which is given a fairly high value.
Description
The scale of it is really impressive. The Kuibyshev area is localized on 17.4 hectares. The advantage over Krasnaya is due to the fact that the measurements showed 1 hectare less. The object is built in the form of a rectangle bounded by st. Chapaevskaya, Galaktionovskaya, Vilonovskaya, Red Army. At the corner points you can see 4 squares. Kuibyshev Square is covered with asphalt. There are also quite a few decorating flower beds and green spaces. Nearby is the Palace of Culture of the same name.
History
The object can be called quite young, because they decided to organize it within the framework of the City Council, which took place in March 1935. Before that, there was Cathedral Square, near which there was a temple. It was called the most beautiful and huge building of a cultural type in the Volga region. Unfortunately, the City Council decided to undermine such a beautiful structure. But the Kuibyshev area has significantly increased in size, which subsequently brought her such loud fame.
The reconstruction of neighborhoods nearby took three years. There are also new buildings. For example, a monument in honor of V. Kuibyshev himself. Its discovery took place in the autumn of 1938. A little later, in winter, they built a palace of the same name. In addition, the local library, which collects scientific papers from all over the region, deserves considerable attention. It was located inside a chic building.
Solemn procession
One of the most significant events for this place was the parade on Kuibyshev Square. He was held on November 7, 1941. He was of a military nature. At that time, there were rather big difficulties with the means for carrying out such events. However, the government found money to carry out this action and another similar one. So for the whole state, Kuibyshev Square was quite significant. Samara events of this level have not seen before. They were carried out exclusively in the capital's Red Square. If Stalin was present in Moscow, then M. Kalinin had the chance to lead the process . He was chairman of the Supreme Council.
In those days, Samara became a place of evacuation for many people. More than once, the Kuibyshev Square became the site of important political events. Events were held here with the participation of N. Khrushchev, who visited here in August 1958. At that time, a celebration was held to launch the hydroelectric station, named after Lenin.
Dangerous times
The plans also included a rally. However, it did not take place. Then, people didnβt treat Khrushchev very well, for which there was a rather simple and easily explainable reason. It consists in poorly supplying the population with the products of first importance that they need. People scolded the authorities not only with curses, but could also throw some rotten product, so the stands on Kuibyshev Square were not the best place for this government official at that time.
The crowd was not configured for dialogue. There were even cases when people threw a bouquet in which a heavy bottle was actually hidden. Khrushchev saved and decided once again not to provoke the audience. It is worth noting that the level of protection was quite strong. Many military service workers were involved, who stood around the venue, forming three rows. It would seem who to rely on, if not the internal troops and the KGB-shnikov.
Cool changes
A rally was also held here in June 1988, when perestroika processes gained strength in the state. After this event, the career of the local regional committee of Muravyov actually ended. However, for other political husbands the event became a real flourishing. For example, this can be said about such statesmen as Yu. Nikishin, V. Karlov, A. Solovy, M. Solonnin.
Interesting metamorphoses occurred closer to our time, in the summer of 2010, when the city administration renamed the square back to Sobornaya, as it was in earlier times. Officials believed that this made some sense. A name change was planned for November 1 of the same year, but then this idea was abandoned.
Interesting facts about the area
The facility is the largest area of ββRussia. Even in Europe there are very few similar analogues. And on a global scale, only four points can be distinguished that could exceed the area in size. They are located in Havana, Pyongyang, Cairo and Beijing. Also, a little attention is paid to the area in the past of Dzerzhinsky, and now Liberty, which is located in Ukraine (Kharkov). She can also compete with pl. Kuibyshev in size. Of course, Russian scientists wanted to prove that the Samara object has more superiority. For this, rather detailed measurements were carried out.
For example, a net area was determined. It is important to understand here whether the places where the squares stand can be taken into account when counting. If not, then the Kharkov facility will win the palm. Although this issue is indeed quite controversial.
Important events
In our time, it is quite common to hold various solemn events, festivals and other events that are of great importance to the population at one of the main Samara sights. One of the most revered and important holidays for all people is May 9th. On this day and this year, a large-scale concert was held on Kuibyshev Square. In the hearts of people, the memory of the immortal feat of ancestors was revived. The celebration began at seven in the evening. There were a large number of wartime songs that simply cannot be forgotten. They should always live in the souls of people, recalling the heroism of the saviors of the Russian land.
An interesting feature was that the musical numbers were designed in such a way that they most satisfy the tastes of modern people. At half past ten fired a gorgeous salute. The accompaniment for him was the sound of military music. To get to the square was completely free and free. The order was monitored by the police.
Opinion of the townspeople
Samara residents themselves claim that they are proud of this place, since it is precisely it that distinguishes their homeland from a series of other Russian and world cities. In addition, it is quite beautiful. It is nice to walk there, feeling a huge spaciousness and freedom.
Thanks to large-scale events held in the square, life in the city becomes much more interesting. It is safe to say that the object has long been the hallmark of the city. To see her, a large number of tourists come to Samara annually. Of course, this is in the hands of the local administration and the citizens themselves. Every person who is admired by the large open spaces is recommended to visit this beautiful place. It will leave an extremely positive impression and give unforgettable emotions.
