Morphological analysis of the name of the adjective is its complete grammatical characteristic as part of speech. Analysis is carried out only of those adjectives that are presented in a specific sentence, because it is impossible to analyze a word correctly out of context.
To perform morphological analysis of an adjective, you need to know:
• what morphological features does the name adjective have ;
• which of them are permanent, immutable and characteristic of all adjectives in general;
• which of the signs are inconsistent, changeable and characteristic of the given form of the word;
• in what syntactic role can appear in the sentence.
Must be able to:
• name the initial form of the adjective;
• identify the permanent features that are characteristic of this part of speech;
• highlight variable characteristics;
• Define the syntactic role of the adjective in the sentence.
Correctly perform the morphological analysis of the adjective will help the scheme of its analysis as part of speech:
1. Name the part of the speech to which the word proposed for parsing belongs, indicate the grammatical meaning and the question to which the word answers.
2. Put the name of the adjective in the initial form.
3. Name the morphological features:
Constants: determine the rank by value.
Inconsistent:
- for quality adjectives:
a) determine the degree of comparison;
b) what form it refers to (full or short).
- for all adjectives, determine:
- case;
- number;
- genus.
4. Indicate the syntactic role of the adjective in the sentence.
Remember!
Performing a morphological analysis of the adjective, it is written out of the sentence without changing. If it acts as a definition for a noun with a preposition (in a big house), the preposition is not written out, because it does not apply to the adjective.
You also need to remember that the adjective has a composite form (the most bright) and, performing morphological analysis of the adjective in this form, it is written out completely.
A constant sign of the name of an adjective is its rank in meaning (relative, qualitative or possessive). Qualitative ones sometimes do not have a degree of comparison or a short form. In this case, completeness (brevity) refers to the constant features.
Unbending adjectives have no inconsistent attributes.
Such signs of the adjective include case, number and gender (determined in the singular). Qualitative adjectives characterize such inconsistent attributes as completeness (brevity) and degree of comparison (comparative and excellent).
Also, one should not forget that adjectives of only the full form have an unstable case sign. When performing a morphological analysis of a short adjective, we indicate only permanent signs.
Sample writing

Invisible (life) - adj.
1. Life (what?) Is invisible. N. f. - invisible.
2. Constant: relative Intermittent: full form, T.p., unit, J.R.
3. (Which?) Invisible.

1. Forest (what?) Winter. N. f. - winter.
2. Constant: relative Intermittent: full form, I. p., unit h., m.
3. (Which?) Winter.
