What is a triple field?
The three-field is the alternation of two types of crops and steam in time and on the territory or only in time. For example, steam, wheat and potato crops can be replaced.
On the territory of Russia since the time of feudalism, the three-field is a crop rotation system, which usually consisted of a plowed but not sown field, winter (wheat) and spring (oats or millet). In other words, such a technology had only a grain direction (mainly bread and cereal crops).
History of occurrence
Even in the period of antiquity, due to a rather simple principle, in many countries a bipartite cultivation system prevailed. As a rule, people divided an unplowed field into two parts. The first was sown with crops, and the other part was left as steam. A year later, everything was done the opposite. The second part was plowed and sown, and the first was left untouched.
Only in the XI-XIII century, the bipartite system was recognized as economically disadvantageous. And then a new crop rotation appeared. In those days, three-field - it was something like a modification, an improved version of the usual bipartite system, which was recognized in many countries, including Europe.
