It's no secret that the Netherlands is a supplier and a kind of incubator of young talents, who then achieve incredible success in the top clubs of the leading five European leagues. But not every player brought up by a Dutch club and selected into the light becomes a star. Leroy Fer was one of the most promising young football players in Holland, but was never able to fully reveal his talent. As a result, his career is far from ideal. What are his successes? Where does he perform and what has he achieved?
Carier start

Leroy Fer was born on January 5, 1990 in the Netherlands in a family where all the men were athletes. Therefore, Leroy was destined to become a football player - he followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, and not his father, who was a baseball player. Already at the age of five he was enrolled in the football academy of the club of the Far Eastern Federal District, where he spent quite a long time - until 1999. Then he was noticed by scouts of one of the largest clubs in Holland at that time, Feyenoord. A nine-year-old boy moved to a new system, where he began to train hard until in 2008 he signed a professional contract with the club. At the end of the season 07/08, he began to receive game practice and spent 11 matches, scoring one goal. The very next year, he was at the heart of the club, having spent three full seasons in it. In total, Leroy Fer played 119 matches for Feyenoord, scoring sixteen goals. But by that time, the club management understood that Fer was not a super talent, which top clubs could buy for a lot of money. Therefore, in 2011 the midfielder was sold to another Dutch club - Twente - for five and a half million euros.
Performances for Twente
It was in Twente that Leroy Fer found a platform with which he was able to leap into one of the best European championships. For two seasons, he played in 77 matches, scored 21 goals and showed that he is still capable of much. Although not a brilliant player who will become a star, but he deserves attention. And in 2013, this attention came from the English club Norwich, which paid the same five and a half million euros for a 23-year-old player.
Relocation to England
What did Leroy Fer find in England? The biography of the player here made a sharp turn, because English football is very different from Dutch. Feru was quite difficult to settle here, but he managed and played 33 matches for Norwich, scoring four goals. In the same season, the club flew from the Premier League to the Championship, and Fer moved to KPR for ten million euros.
Transition to the "CRC"
Leroy Fer is a football player who lacked stars from the sky, so he did not build empty hopes that he would one day play for Chelsea or Manchester United. He just did his job and played 31 matches in the new club, scoring six goals. By coincidence, the second club in a row after the arrival of Fera flew to the Championship. However, this time Leroy did not leave - he spent another six months in the “CRC”, having played 19 matches and scoring two goals. But the club management decided to rent the player to Swansea, since he did not impress the club’s new coach.
Rent and transfer to Swansea
Fer spent six months at Swansea on loan, having entered the field in 11 games. After that, the club, satisfied with the results of the Dutchman, bought his transfer for five and a half million euros. Fer has already played nine games for Swansea this season, scoring four goals.
Team appearances
Fer made his debut for the Dutch national team in August 2010 in a friendly match against the Ukrainian national team. He did not go to the 2012 European Championship , as he was involved in the youth team until the age of 21, but he already got to the 2014 World Cup, but he spent it on the bench. Only in a group match with the Chileans he was released for fifteen minutes - and he immediately scored a goal. Fer held his last match for the national team in November 2014 - he was replaced in a friendly match against the Mexican national team.
