Ufa is one of the largest cities in the east of the European part of Russia. It is the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan. Forms the urban district of Ufa. This is a major economic, cultural and scientific center of the Russian Federation. The condition of roads in Ufa is improving, but the situation remains difficult.
Geographic features
Ufa is located 100 km west of the Ural Mountains. The area of ββthe city is 707.9 km 2. The length from north to south is significantly greater than from west to east. This is one of the longest cities in Russia and one of the five largest in terms of occupied territory. Therefore, the road network of Ufa is also quite long. The population density is the smallest among the million-plus cities of Russia.
Climate
Climatic conditions favor traffic problems, but are generally more stable than in the western and northwestern parts of the ETR. The climate is rather cold, with an average continental level, but at the same time moderately humid. In January, the average temperature is -12.4 Β° C, but the minimum mark is very low - about -48.5 Β° C. The average annual temperature is +3.8 degrees, and the annual precipitation is 589 mm.
Transportation Ufa
Ufa is a major transport hub in Russia. Pipelines, railways, highways and river routes pass through the city. Ufa is connected by road to Moscow, Chelyabinsk, Perm, Samara, Kazan and Orenburg. There are two whole automobile roads Moscow - Ufa (motorways). In Ufa, the Volga M7 highway is also completing, and the M5 Ural motorway has been laid along the southern outskirts of the city.
With other cities (both within Bashkortostan, and throughout the region), there is a developed bus service. Previously, two bus stations functioned: South and North, but now only South remains. North was closed in 2017.
Ground road transport is represented by a trolley bus, bus, tram, minibuses and taxis. It is also planned to build a light rail line. In Ufa, bicycle transport is actively developing.
State of Ufa Roads
Although the condition of roads in Ufa is improving, it still remains unsatisfactory. For this reason, there are 2 cases of traffic accidents daily in which victims are recorded. Many sections of the road are in unsatisfactory or even dangerous condition. Many avenues sin this - not only the streets of cities, but also highways. The city traffic police is trying to solve the problem, but its efforts are not enough.
State of the M-5 highway in Bashkiria
The worst condition is noted on the highway M-5 (Samara - Ufa - Chelyabinsk), which has long had a bad reputation. It often crashes, including with serious consequences. In one of these disasters, 9 passengers of a bus were killed, after which the status of the road of death was officially assigned to this highway. The reason for what happened was the depressing condition of the roadway, which turned out to be covered with ice. The most dangerous section is from 1470 to 1549 kilometers. Over the past year, 13 fatal accidents occurred there. Wagons, which are known to have low maneuverability, also become causes of accidents.
What is being done to improve the situation
Currently, work is underway in Ufa as part of the Safe and High-Quality Roads project. Repair work is underway on October Avenue and on the Ufa - Airport highway. 20 billion rubles were allocated for the repair of Ufa roads.
Thus, the road situation in Bashkiria remains rather complicated. This is often the cause of serious accidents. The most dangerous in this regard is the Ural highway, where many fatal accidents are recorded. However, recently Ufa roads have been actively being repaired, for which 20 billion rubles were allocated from the budget.
