The largest administrative-territorial unit in the world is the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The sights of this region are mainly the work of nature. Which of them are the most interesting and impressive?
Sightseeing: Sakha (Yakutia)
Amazing region with harsh and picturesque nature. The dense taiga forests of Yakutia border on the frosty expanses of the tundra, here you can feel eternity, of course, if you listen carefully. Original and ancient culture has long been intertwined with the modern world of technology, but the natural attractions of Yakutia still attract adventurers.
The wild untouched nature of Yakutia makes up about 17% of the entire country, and almost all of it does not come into contact with industrial enterprises. This is a real expanse for tourists. Here you can go on a pedestrian or extreme tour, such as rafting on a river or climbing a mountain. For those who like to spend time even on vacation with the benefit of the mind, there are ethnographic and ornithological excursions.
The sights of Yakutia are national parks and reserves, as well as interesting open-air museums: Friendship, Yakut Political Link. There are many amazing natural formations in this region, for example, Lena and Sinsky pillars, Mount Kisilyakh and Death Valley.
Cold sights of Yakutia
More than 40% of the republic is located beyond the Arctic Circle, and in one of the villages there is even a cold pole. This name was received by the village of Oymyakon. The temperature here in winter can reach -70 degrees, but in the summer there can be unbearable heat up to +39 degrees.
Frost in Yakutia is a common thing, so in Yakutsk on Merzlotnaya Street at the Institute of permafrost there is a Museum of the history of permafrost. The Shergin mine was opened for visitors, in which the minus temperature of rocks was measured for the first time. At a depth of 15 meters is an underground laboratory.
Most days of the year, the coast of the Berelekh River is under a thick ice layer, and in the summer, during their thawing, the remains of long-existing creatures are often found. So, in Allaikhovsky district, the remains of 150 mammoths were found. Now the place is called the Berelekh cemetery.
Stone giants
There are places in the republic where real works of art are made of stone. These sights of Yakutia were formed by the will of nature. The banks of the Sinaya and Lena rivers are bordered by steep cliffs. Tall stone columns they stretched along the Yakut rivers for tens of kilometers. Ancient tribes left their βlettersβ on these rocks, painting them with yellow mineral paint.
The left bank of the Lena River is famous for Mount Khodar. This is the result of long tectonic processes that took place many centuries ago. The relief here is very rugged - peaks and steep cliffs, cracks and caves can be observed, even swimming along the river.
"Mountain of stone people", or Kisilyakh, is another natural miracle of Yakutia. Huge stone blocks resemble features of tall giants. The locals have enveloped this place with mysterious stories and legends that make it even more attractive.
In the Lena River Delta the island of Pillar flaunts lonely. At 104 meters, it rises above the river, and at its top there is an ancient sanctuary made of stones. Travelers traditionally hang colored ribbons or coins on a pole in the middle of the altar as a tribute to unknown forces.
National parks and reserves
The most striking sights of Yakutia are national parks and reserves. A remote but beautiful place - Olemkinskiy Reserve. Now the stormy, then calm Olekma River, on the banks of which the reserve is located, carries its waters through the unique natural expanses. The mountainous terrain and unique fauna make this place truly beautiful.
Between the rivers Lyampushka and Dyanishka there is a national park Ust-Vilyuy. There are practically no settlements in the park; they have long been abandoned and forgotten by their inhabitants. Here, near the Oruchan River, the border of the Arctic Circle passes. On June 22, the sun never sets in these places and never rises in December the 22nd.
Conclusion
The Sakha Republic is, first of all, endless and mostly untouched natural spaces. Not everyone dares to visit these places, because the climate here is quite severe. But, having come here, any traveler will say that he gained a thousand times more than he lost.
