Russian defender Alexander Sazonov: biography and achievements

Russian defender Alexander Sazonov was born on November 29, 1980 in Omsk. At the request of his father, from the age of 6, he began to actively engage in hockey, starting his career path with the children's school of the local “Vanguard”. The boy’s trainers discerned talent in young talent and helped him take the first steps to a successful career.

After undergoing training, a talented defender was waiting for two years of lease to the clubs of the second division, but in the championship of 1999/2000 the leadership of the “Vanguard” decided to test Sazonov in the main team, declaring him for the season. In the Super League, the young Omsk adapted quite quickly and easily - he was often trusted by the “Eagles” mentor Gennady Tsygurov, as a result of which the hockey player went out to the ice regularly enough, playing a total of 12 matches of the regular championship. But Sazonov clearly did not have enough experience in the defense, and the next two seasons the defender spent in three different clubs with a division lower - after the Saratov “Crystal” Chelyabinsk “Mechel” and Kurgan “Mostovik” followed, where the hockey player regularly received game practice.

Chelyabinsk fairy tale

Alexander Sazonov, whose biography is primarily associated with the Chelyabinsk Tractor, ended up in his main team in his career in 2002. At that time, “bears” played in the Premier League of the championship of Russia, and the arrival of a young and very ambitious defender came to their advantage. In the very first season, Alexander Sazonov proved himself to be the head coach, having played his first 30 matches for Tractor, and every year he added to his game, increasing not only the amount of playing time, but also his performance.

As a result, after 4 seasons, the Chelyabinsk team was able to break into the Super League of the Russian Championship, becoming the champion of the Premier League in 2006, when it was Sazonov who made 13 significant points and made a significant contribution to success. These 4 years became for Alexander a great springboard in his career, and, despite the mass of proposals to move to another club, he remained in Tractor.

At a higher level, at first the Chelyabinsk team was not easy, and the places in the second ten of the championship for 4 years in a row were a regularity for the team. In 2011, Tractor set about renewing the squad, and in May of that year, Alexander Sazonov decided to change the club by moving to Nizhnekamsk Neftekhimik at the end of the current season.

The next championship was marked by another club for the defender - having played 13 matches for Neftekhimik, Alexander Sazonov moved to Podolsky Vityaz. As part of the “warriors”, the Russian also spent only one season, the following year, having played in the “Motorist”, and in 2013 accepting the proposal of the VHL team - the Tyumen “Rubin”. As part of the new club, Alexander was one of the main stars of the team’s defense and made a significant contribution to the Rubin game, becoming the bronze medalist of the championship following the 2013/2014 season. After the contract with the Tyumen club ended, Alexander Sazonov was in search of a new club for a while, considering primarily the KHL, but not finding any decent offers, he ended his career, leaving a significant mark in Russian hockey, including in the clubs for which he played .
