School standards for running 1 km are one of the physical tests during the completion of the TRP (“Readiness for Labor and Defense”). This event allows you to assess the real level of physical fitness of students and the effectiveness of classes in physical education classes.
Program objective
Standards of running for 1 km help determine the physical development of students, highlight the most enduring, strong and mobile. The best runners, as a rule, represent the honor of their school in competitions at the city level or regional level. The delivery of a sports task provokes the development of a competitive spirit and the desire for victory. Such school events are a good incentive for the pursuit of an active and healthy lifestyle.
In the All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Complex of the
TRP, the standards for running for 1 km occupy the position of a mandatory test. The time at which a student must meet the deadline is set by the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation.
On the basis of the results obtained after passing the TRP, the teacher of physical education can coordinate lesson plans, more accurately dose the types of loads, and also identify the most athletic students.
Levels of completion of standard requirements
The 1 km running standard for schoolchildren is regulated in accordance with the age abilities of students. Each group of children has its own level of change; the higher it is, the more serious the requirements.
1st stage - 6-8 years. At this age, time when checking physical training is not taken into account.
2 stage - 9-10 years.
Stage 3 - 11-12 years.
4th stage - 13-15 years.
5th stage - 16-17 years old.
For boys and girls, different running standards for 1 km are determined. This is due to the fact that the physical development of boys and youths is rapidly developing every year (especially in adolescence). Representatives of the stronger sex have great hope, as they are potential defenders of the Motherland in the future.
Standards for Boys and Boys
TRP standards are developed individually for each age. Starting from grade 5, running time records for 1000 m are kept.
Class | Mark |
"excellent" | "well" | "satisfactorily" |
5 (min., S) | 5.50 | 6.10 | 6.30 |
6 | 4.40 | 5.20 | 6.10 |
7 | 4.20 | 4.35 | 5 |
8 | 4.10 | 4.40 | 5 |
9 | 3.40 | 4 | 5 |
10-11 | 3.45 | 4 | 4.10 |
Standards for Girls
The delivery of the TRP for the fairer sex is a little more loyal. Standards for running 1 km are reduced, in contrast to the indicators of boys.
Class | Mark |
"excellent" | "well" | "satisfactorily" |
5 (min, s) | 6 | 6.20 | 6.40 |
6 | 5.10 | 5.30 | 6 |
7 | 4.30 | 4,50 | 5.40 |
8 | 4,50 | 5.10 | 5.30 |
9 | 4.20 | 4.40 | 5.30 |
10-11 | 4.40 | 4,50 | 5.30 |
Who will run to what mark?
The time for each TRP assignment, in this case, kilometer run, depends on the student's age, gender, and athletic abilities. A student who is actively involved in physical education classes at the school and additional sports sections outside it will be able to earn an “excellent” mark. To get the mark “good”, school training provided by the physical education teacher in the lessons is enough. Finally, the “satisfactory” score is calculated for students who do not have outstanding physical abilities and do not lead a sporting lifestyle.
The results of the run are designed to stimulate students to self-improvement, at least to improve grades.
Youth Sports
Pupils who have completed the task and demonstrate a higher result than the school curriculum requires are worthy of receiving a special sports status. Ranks are a matter of pride for an athlete, push to further improve their capabilities, stimulate continuous development and progress.
Each category is assigned for 2 years, after this period it is necessary to confirm your sports skills. The highest achievement is 1 rank. Only a schoolchild with excellent physical training is able to achieve such a result, for the development of which it is necessary to regularly engage, practice and strive for the best indicator.
Discharge | I | II | III |
Young men | 3 min. 10 s | 3 min. 25 s | 3 min. 40 s |
Girls | 3 min. 55 s | 4 minutes 10 s | 4 minutes 35 s |
The student can receive the third youth category up to 14 years. The second category is assigned to young athletes under 16 years of age. The first category can be obtained before the age of majority.
Do schoolchildren need such standards?
The opinions of the students themselves and their parents are many, and most of them contradict each other. Someone believes that the stated requirements allow the identification of talented children in sports, are the subject of motivation of the young generation to develop, improve skills. To achieve a good result and get a decent grade, physical training is necessary, during which muscles develop and strengthen. Regular exercise strengthens the immune system, improves health, supports the emotional state.
This practice is important for children who are known for their activity and high energy reserves. Psychologists emphasize that adolescents involved in sports, as a rule, do not differ in pronounced deviant behavior, in contrast to their unsportsmanlike peers.
There is an opinion that the existence of such standards infringes on the rights of unsportsmanlike students who do not have a predisposition to physical activity. Standards for running 1 km are also inhumane and do not demonstrate the actual level of physical development of the child. However, any school subject can be blamed for such discrimination.
It should be noted that, despite the diversity of opinions, the delivery of control results on physical education is part of the compulsory school curriculum.
Army standards
The school is far from the only place where students' sports training is regularly checked. Those guys who make a decision after leaving school to go to serve in the army will also have to systematically confirm their physical shape. The test program also includes a standard of running for 1 km. In the army, the requirements are more stringent than in school. So, for admission to the contract service it is necessary to keep within 4 minutes 20 seconds.
Why are such standards of military personnel needed? Running 1 km is one of the composite criteria for checking the overall professional suitability of an army man. As a result of the test, the endurance of the military, his physical training is revealed.
How often are the standards checked in the army?
The commander is obliged to regularly conduct a sports check of his staff and assess the level of physical development of his subordinates. Such events are held quarterly among all those who do not have medical contraindications to increased stress. Upon admission to military service, conscripts must pass their first standard - 1 km run. In the army, a newly-minted soldier is given no more than 2 weeks to prepare before assessing his sports skills.
Also, standards are dealt before signing the next contract and upon appointment to a higher position. The time at which the military must keep within, running the distance, is determined by the age group. So, men under 30 years must run 1 km in 3 minutes 55 seconds, and those over 30 years are given 4 minutes.

The salary of army men depends on how successfully the test was passed. After the assignment of a sports category in running, for example, the salary of a soldier increases. Some annual bonuses are awarded only to those who have proven their physical fitness.
