Verkhnyaya Pyshma is a settlement in the Sverdlovsk region (about 70 thousand inhabitants), one of the satellite cities of Yekaterinburg. Known primarily as an important center for copper production. Where is the city of Verkhnyaya Pyshma? And how does he live today? This is briefly covered in our article.
The copper capital of the Urals
The village of Verkhnyaya Pyshma dates back to 1701. For a long time it was only a small stopping point at the entrance to Yekaterinburg. But everything changed dramatically in the middle of the XIX century, when the development of local copper deposits began. In the 30s, the Uralelectromed plant grew here, in the shops of which for the first time in the Soviet Union this non-ferrous metal was obtained by electrolysis.
Today OJSC UMMC (Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company) combines more than two dozen enterprises and is the main producer of pure copper in Russia. In addition, freight electric locomotives, chemicals, roofing materials, as well as jewelry made from various precious metals are produced in the city.
By the way, the stress in the name of the city should be placed on the last syllable. The word "pyshma" itself is translated from the Mansi language as "quiet."
One of the main attractions of Verkhnyaya Pyshma is the Open-Air Museum of Military Equipment. It has over 300 exhibits and is considered the largest museum of its kind in the country.
Where is Verkhnyaya Pyshma located?
It is curious that a settlement called Nizhnyaya Pyshma does not exist. But there is the village of Pyshma, about 150 kilometers east of Yekaterinburg.
So where is Upper Pyshma? The city is located north of the administrative center of the Sverdlovsk Region, just beyond the ECAD (Ekaterinburg Ring Road). The coordinates of the settlement on the map are as follows: 56 Β° 58 'north latitude; 60 Β° 34 'East.
From neighboring Yekaterinburg you can get to Verkhnyaya Pyshma by bus number 111 or number 108. Average traffic interval: 7-10 minutes. By car you need to move north along Cosmonauts Avenue. Bypassing the denouement, he smoothly passes into the Assumption Avenue of Pyshma. The distance between the centers of both cities is only 15 kilometers.
Currently, it is planned to create a direct tram line that will connect Yekaterinburg with Verkhnyaya Pyshma.
