"Urbanika" and the Union of Architects: "We know the ecologically clean cities of Russia "

What did these two organizations do? In 2011, they identified the most environmentally friendly cities in Russia. Only large settlements were taken into account, those where at least 170.5 thousand people live. What did you take into account when rating?

  1. The quality of the urban environment. This included indicators such as housing, the condition of roads, the illumination of sleeping areas and industrial zones, transport accessibility, and crime rates. Do these indicators relate to the concept of "ecology"? Representatives of these institutions are confident that they are.
  2. How natural conditions are favorable for living.
  3. Level and amount of pollution.
  4. The level of spending on utilities.

Not to mention the fact that far from all indicators are related to ecology, the methods of collecting information were also questionable. It was provided by realtors, climate research institutes, and consulting companies. According to the results of the study, the cleanest city for 2011 was named. It turned out to be ... Surgut. The second place in the list is Tyumen. Surprisingly, according to Urbanika, ecologically clean cities of Russia are Cherepovets, Nizhnevartovsk, and Chelyabinsk. All of them occupy different positions in the ranking, but fall into the first hundred of the dubious list, which lists the ecological clean cities of Russia according to the version of the Union of Architects and Urbaniki. In subsequent years, the institute continued to draw up ratings, but they are already based on other indicators.

The Ministry of Nature is also involved in urban ecology research. Their ratings are based on completely different indicators. It takes into account:

  • air quality;
  • water quality;
  • waste disposal;
  • environmental impact management.

the most environmentally friendly city in Russia
According to the Ministry, completely different cities were named in 2011. The first, most worthy, place was proudly taken by Volgograd, followed by St. Petersburg, Saransk, Vologda ... In 2012, Kursk was named as the most environmentally friendly city in Russia. The last places among 70 cities were shared by Krasnodar and Irkutsk. In 2013, the picture has changed markedly. The deputy minister of natural resources said that Kursk takes the same position. Other environmentally friendly cities of Russia in 2013: Moscow, Kaluga, Saransk, Izhevsk. In addition to summing up the overall results, the winners of individual nominations have been announced. The cleanest water, says the Ministry of Natural Resources, in Anadyr. Best disposed of waste in Yaroslavl. Most correctly interacts with the environment of Saransk. The cleanest, most transparent air today in Makhachkala, Volgograd and St. Petersburg. Krasnodar and Irkutsk were in last place in all ratings, but not because of the poor environment, but because officials did not submit the necessary information to the Ministry on time. Provided with a great delay, they clearly proved that Krasnodar could easily fall into the top five cities in which it is pleasant to live.
