Despite the existing variety of species and varieties of strawberries, this berry is grown, as a rule, in the same way (except for the industrial scale). In most cases, the bushes bear fruit from May to the end of June (depending on the weather and climatic zone). True, there are also such varieties of strawberries that are able to produce crops right up to the first frosts, but this is rather the exception.

To obtain berries in winter or spring, they can be cultivated in greenhouse conditions. True, then strawberries will not be so tasty. Regardless of whether it grows in open ground or under a film, bushes need constant care, and competent. For example, many do not know what to do with strawberry mustaches, which are constantly growing (it multiplies in this way). Experts strongly advise them to pick off so that the newly formed plants do not take away the strength from the berries. Naturally, if it is planned to propagate strawberries, then they should be left, and after rooting, separated from the mother plant and planted separately.
When strawberries must be torn off so that they do not interfere with the full development of the fruit, you should find out in advance, even before the season of active gardening begins. Experts advise doing this in several stages during the spring-summer period. Moreover, some recommend the removal of processes regardless of the stage of ripening of berries as they appear. But there is another opinion: it is extremely important to comply with the deadlines when strawberries must be torn off. And if this is done at the wrong time, the mother plant itself may suffer. The laying of flower buds for the next year occurs immediately after the harvest, that is, approximately at the end of June. Adherents of the second point of view strongly advise to rid the bushes of extra shoots precisely during this period, since, in their opinion, the presence of mustaches can lead to the fact that the future harvest will be scarce.

Now there are plant species that reproduce by seed. These varieties of strawberries do not give a mustache, and therefore, they do not need to be removed. But in most cases, the problem still exists.
There is another version (not without common sense), according to which it is absolutely not important when a strawberry picks a mustache. The main thing is how to do it. In particular, the procedure should be carried out with caution, and the processes should not be torn off, but trimmed with garden shears or a knife. In this case, the maternal plant is minimally damaged, so you can do this even during the period of active ripening of berries.
In most types of strawberries, mustaches begin to appear immediately after flowering. This means that in early spring, when the plants only wake up after the cold, weakened, they will not let shoots out. In this period, straw should be removed from the bushes (if they were insulated with it), weeds should be removed (if any), and fertilized. Having decided when to break off the mustache with strawberries, do not forget to cut dry leaves with them so that they do not interfere with the plant.
When breeding plants, many try to generally touch less to minimize injury. However, this is not entirely correct. In this case, the shoots are also removed. Knowing when to pick off a mustache from a strawberry can make the plant more "prolific." And it is desirable to leave the very first shoot, because it will make the strongest plant. The rest is best removed so that they do not interfere.
