Lake in the Chelyabinsk region
In the Chelyabinsk region on the territory of the Sosnovsky district, 30 km from the regional center along the Sverdlovsk tract, 200 km south of Yekaterinburg, is a surprisingly beautiful freshwater lake Uzunkul. It has an elongated shape, by the way, its name literally translates as “long lake”.
With an area of 4.2 square meters. km, length 3.5 km, width 1.5 km, its average depth is 3 m, and the maximum reaches 7 m. On the western side there are sharp deep differences. The pond is nourished by precipitation and melting snow. Several small streams flow into Uzunkul Lake. There is no outflowing river from this reservoir.
Lake in Bashkortostan
Not far from the same Chelyabinsk region, but already in the Bashkir Trans-Urals, a little to the west of the Tashyar peak (545 m) lies another Uzunkul lake. It was located in a narrow mountain valley near the small village of Uzungulovo and the village of Ozerny. The distance from it to Chelyabinsk is 250 km.

How to get there

Archaeological site on the lake in Bashkortostan
The Uzunkul Lake in Bashkiria surprised historians. Archaeologists during excavations discovered here ancient jasper-processing workshops, more than 20 thousand different objects - scrapers, arrows, primitive knives - from processed jasper. All objects lay in clusters in the ground, most likely in the semi-earth rooms of the workshops. The walls of such rooms from below to a height of one meter are made of processed stone slabs. At the bottom of the rooms, objects, crafts and tools from Kushkuldinsky jasper were found. Scientists have found that the workshops were built more than 10 thousand years ago.
Priceless archaeological artifacts give scientists the opportunity to learn more about the ancient inhabitants of the Bashkir Trans-Urals, to find out the conditions of their residence in this territory, the traditions of processing tools from a fairly strong jasper rock. Scientists have already appreciated the skill of the ancient stonecutters.
The find will also make it possible to establish a more accurate time interval for the settlement of the ancient peoples of this territory, will allow a new look at the history of the region.
