Four outriggers are attached to the frame, which are supported by
hydraulic cylinders. This provides greater stability during operation. The Liebher crane essentially set a new direction in mechanical engineering.
Working equipment
The metal structure of the boom allows it to be divided into sections. These sections can be driven out by a rotor. The length of the boom depends on the configuration. The very latest assumes a total section length of up to one hundred meters. At the same time, the maximum possible elevation angle is almost ninety degrees. The hydraulic motor, in which the axial pistons are located, extends the boom. The winch drum has a planetary gear, which significantly increases the capacity of the crane.
The running frame is connected to the tower with a weather vane, in which there is a king pin pivotally mounted on top. The weight of the crane is about 360 tons, the weight can increase four times, depending on the configuration. The crane has a two hundred-ton counterweight, which consists of sixteen plates.
Crawler crane
Caterpillar cranes are mainly used in sand pits due to high traffic. They can work in several areas from one parking lot or move between them.
The towers do not have a turntable. The crane operator’s cab is installed in front of the chassis. According to the company, this design provides greater security.
In 2010, the LTM crane fell due to a gust of wind that brought down the rotor of a mounted wind turbine. No harm done. Crawler cranes of the LR brand can have an arrow up to a hundred meters long. The metal structure is optimized and made of new steel alloys. Transportation is complete, allowing the machine to quickly begin to complete tasks.
