Bulgaria as a whole cannot be called the country whose sports world is rich in bright stars of a planetary scale. Nevertheless, there are still some individuals who today glorify this European state in the international arena. Among them is a professional boxer Kubrat Pulev.
A native of the Bulgarian capital
Kubrat Pulev was born in the main city of Bulgaria - Sofia. His date of birth is May 4, 1981. It is noteworthy that initially Pulev played football. At the age of 13, he ended up at the CSKA football school, but in the end he did not stay there for long, although he was considered a talented goalkeeper. In many ways, the Bulgarian's failed football career is explained by the fact that Kubrat’s father was not fond of playing sports. By the way, the athlete’s dad - Venko Pulev - was also a boxer, and at one time - the country's champion in the heavyweight category. Kubrat's brother also continued the boxing dynasty.

His love for this intellectual game arose thanks to his father, who spent quite a lot of time with young Kubrat at the board. Today Pulev Kubrat is in a relationship with the famous Bulgarian pop-folk singer named Theodora Andreeva (pseudonym - Andrea). According to the athlete himself, he is not yet ready for marriage, because for him training and fighting are in the foreground, and the family requires a lot of free time and fulfillment of certain obligations. The couple have been together for seven years.
The lack of a criminal past
Kubrat Pulev, whose biography is not tarnished even by minor administrative offenses, is grateful to the sport. It was boxing that did not allow the guy to get into bad company, to become an alcoholic or drug addict. According to the athlete himself, studying at a sports school and observing a strict regime did not allow him to even think about any nonsense.
Boxing career
Pulev has an excellent track record in amateur boxing. He managed to become the European champion, and in 2003 defeated the Olympic champion - the Cuban Solis, who later, however, was able to win twice against the Bulgarian and, thus, revenge.
In 2004, Kubrat defeated Alexander Poverennov. In 2006, the Bulgarian defeated Vyacheslav Glazkov, silver medalist of the Ukrainian world championship and well-known puncher Aslambekov, who had sixteen wins by knockout in a row before meeting with “Cobra”.
In the professional ring, Kubrat Pulev, whose photos were widely disseminated in all world print and online publications, always fought with the strongest representatives of his category. Among the fighters defeated by him are such titans as: Dominic Guinn, Michael Sprott, Derrick Rossi and many others.
On May 5, 2012, Kubrat won an early victory in the eleventh round over Alexander Dimitrenko and became the champion of the European continent.
On September 29, 2012, a Bulgarian boxer in the qualifying match was able to defeat the Russian giant Alexander Ustinov by knockout and thereby become an official contender for the IBF world champion belt, owned by Vladimir Klitschko.
A meeting with the eminent Ukrainian heavyweight titanium took place in November 2014. Kubrat Pulev, whose biography before this meeting was not full of defeats in the pro ring, went into battle in the status of underdog. As it turned out, not in vain. During the fight, Klitschko knocked down the Bulgarian three times, but he got up again and again and continued the fight. However, in the fifth round, Pulev missed a rather tough left hook, after which he still could not continue the fight.
The field of this defeat Kubrat spent almost a year not fighting. And in October 2015, he once again went into the square of the ring in order to meet with an opponent from Brazil, George Arias, in a rating match. The fight went the whole distance. And its result was a unanimous decision of the judges, which recorded the victory of the Bulgarian. By the way, experts noted that in this battle Kubrat began to work more with hard jabs and more often connect his attacking hand. The manner of warfare was replaced by a more intellectual and restrained.
