1989 year. October 9th. The first therapeutic television show by Anatoly Kashpirovsky on Central Television, which gathered millions of Soviet viewers from blue screens.
Waiting for a miracle
Almost the entire population of the country (from small to large, from boss to housewife) intended to recover from various sores, everyone was waiting for a miracle, and it happened. Even if not with everyone, but most of the television audience felt a certain magical effect on themselves, something unusual in everyday life, which stepped from TV screens to houses and apartments of ordinary citizens. Someone lost warts and postoperative scars, someone inexplicably got rid of chronic diseases. Yes, and heated discussions of this and the next five television shows, vivid examples of “healed” people led to a massive belief in a huge audience in the Kashpirovsky phenomenon, which painlessly relieved enuresis, ulcers, alcoholism and other ailments. The country was divided into two camps: some believed it, others tried to convict of a scam. But as soon as the session began, both of them sat together in front of the TV.
Kashpirovsky: biography
Photos of Kashpirovsky easily dispersed throughout the country, they were available in almost every family, because almost everyone wanted to experience the healing effects of such an unusual and courageous man who rivets his piercing gaze. So who is he - Anatoly Kashpirovsky, who made the whole country talk about himself in an instant?

Kashpirovsky’s biography is quite ordinary and differs little from the life of an average Soviet citizen. Born in 1939, August 11; childhood spent in the Ukrainian town of Proskurov (now Khmelnitsky). It can be assumed that at an early age Anatoly could be interested not in cars, but in the actions and intentions of those around him. After graduating from the Vinnitsa Medical Institute in 1962, he worked as a psychotherapist in a psychiatric hospital for a quarter of a century, and in 1987 as a psychotherapist of the USSR national athletics team. Kashpirovsky’s biography boasts his title of candidate of medical sciences, as well as the USSR master of sports in weightlifting. Anatoly Mikhailovich loved to sing all his life, so it is not surprising that his trained ligaments became an indispensable tool in conducting television shows and public appearances before a huge audience.
Distance bridge for psychological anesthesia
In addition to television broadcasts, Anatoly Kashpirovsky, whose biography is rich in various significant events and memorable meetings that were not given to every person, conducted two telebridges on Central Television, anesthetizing two patients live before the operation without anesthesia. The patients of that memorable broadcast were simultaneously Lesya Yurshova and Olga Ignatova, who were contraindicated with medical anesthesia due to the high allergic predisposition to all drugs. He underwent hernia surgery. To this day, this trick could not be repeated by any of the hypnotists.
Meetings with viewers: increasing appreciation and popularity
There were also meetings with the audience (the so-called healing sessions), at which Kashpirovsky showed letters from grateful cured people. At such meetings, various “healing” paraphernalia (photos of Kashpirovsky, videotapes with recordings of his sessions, etc.) were implemented, which subsequently aroused great interest of the prosecutor's office, because the goods sold were not marked.
America in the life of Kashpirovsky
In 1995, Anatoly Kashpirovsky, whose biography made a new round in the life spiral, moved to the United States. There he saved the Russian emigrants from excess weight; the cost of the session was $ 50. There he was awarded the US Commemorative Medal "For the recovery of World War II veterans." Before life in America, traveled almost half the world, conducting his wellness sessions. He practiced in Poland for almost 20 years, and it was him - the only foreign citizen - who received Polish television a significant prize for the tremendous popularity of the television series A. Kashpirovsky’s Television Clinic, and Lech Walesa, President of Poland, expressed gratitude for the health of the nation.
Kashpirovsky against the clergy and official medicine
The biography of Anatoly Mikhailovich Kashpirovsky includes constant conflicts with official medicine, which recognized him as a charlatan, and the sessions he conducted are harmful to the psyche. The clergy categorically did not recognize Kashpirovsky, believing that only the Lord God could provide healing. Kashpirovsky’s biography has such an interesting fact as beating an opponent during the filming of the television program “Let them Talk” (broadcast on December 14, 2005), which Anatoly Mikhailovich did not agree with.
In 2006, in Chelyabinsk, he was charged with the illegal practice of traditional medicine. Moreover, it was compiled by an independent expert - psychotherapist Shadrina, who was not present at any of Anatoly Mikhailovich’s speeches. In this opus, Kashpirovsky was put on a par with charlatans of the 90s, who called themselves healers. However, the man who saved thousands of lives, more than once threatened to go to jail, continued to treat people.
In 2009, the biography of Kashpirovsky, who had a long creative break, continued with a series of investigative documentaries “Session with Kashpirovsky”.
The series "Miracle Worker" about Kashpirovsky?
In November 2014, the premiere of the drama series "The Miracle Worker" was held, dedicated to the topic of extrasensory and mystical possibilities of man. Fedor Bondarchuk, who played one of the main roles, very similarly played Kashpirovsky, although he himself claims that he did not play it. Even Kashpirovsky himself, whose biography is clearly traced in this series, noticed a resemblance to himself and was very upset by this, because he considered the series a failure. And Bondarchuk, in his opinion, could not cope with the role. Especially Anatoly Mikhailovich was jarred that in the film he was compared with Alan Chumak, whom he had never recognized as a doctor.
What is the secret of Kashpirovsky?
The “kashpirovization” of the whole country at that time in its emotionality could only be compared with the film “Slave Izaura”. How can we explain the effects that occurred during the television show? Was it a powerful field of the healer or some kind of strong energy that could penetrate the homes of grateful spectators through the blue TV screens? Although, if we assume that such energy took place, it would definitely not be enough to charge the entire population of a vast territory. And Kashpirovsky himself never voiced during the sessions, which transmits some energy or vibes through the screens; he always built his work professionally, as a psychotherapist of the highest class. Although some time later, Kashpirovsky’s popularity was interpreted as a manifestation of mass psychosis.
The superpopularity of the hypnotist
So who is Kashpirovsky? The biography, the family of this man - the ruler of other people's souls and consciousness - is of constant interest in many people, because I want to understand what mechanisms of influence he used, which allowed to achieve very impressive results and caused fierce debate and opposition.
In 1989, in the Soviet Union, Kashpirovsky was recognized as the man of the year, surpassing the popularity of famous politicians. Special services were afraid of him, because today the psychotherapist was talking about warts, and tomorrow he could send a crowd of people to the Kremlin.
Kashpirovsky’s methods were aimed at activating the person’s internal reserves, especially if the latter was easily suggestible and emotional. Most of the “healings” are accounted for precisely by such viewers. During the television sessions, rather high figures were cured for various diseases, the percentage of which was small in relation to the total number of viewers.
What contributed to the success of Kashpirovsky's television shows?
Kashpirovsky’s voice: confident, persistent, imperious
Anatoly Kashpirovsky, whose biography and family is of constant interest to a large mass of the population, very confidently and confidently stood in front of the cameras, while preserving all the required accessories of a professional hypnotist: the corresponding look, gestures, posture, intonation and timbre of the voice. And since the majority of the population knew practically nothing about the work of psychotherapists, this, of course, led to an increase in the expected effect, perceived as a "magical" action. Also, the uncharacteristic behavior of some people who were present at the session (waving hands, turning their heads, slow, as if dancing movement around the hall) indirectly influenced the perception of the audience. Such unusual actions by an easy-to-imagine audience, due to her unlimited faith in Kashpirovsky’s ability, provoked a corresponding reaction among those present, infecting them with similar feelings.
The method of influencing the audience chosen by Kashpirovsky, which in psychotherapy is called the Kretschmer-Erickson method, played an important role in the practice of the psychotherapist. His technology is the lack of direct pressure on those participating in a hypnotic session.
Kashpirovsky knits a web of words, periodically inserting a phrase, the content of which bears a direct suggestion, which acts with particular force against the background of indifferent irritants, because the audience gives the impression of sharing with the therapist in the process.
Kashpirovsky: biography, personal life
Anatoly Mikhailovich was married to his admirer Valentina, who had been married for 22 years, having two children: a son and a daughter. In terms of personal life, Kashpirovsky’s biography is quite successful. His children and grandchildren are his pride. Son Sergey is a boxer, daughter Elena is a three-time champion of America in karate-do, the granddaughter of Inga is a two-time champion in the same sport.
In recent years, his personal assistant Irina, a citizen of the Czech Republic, who is the chosen one and personal companion, has been with the psychotherapist.
Kashpirovsky’s biography positions this unique person as a citizen of the world, an absolute ascetic who is little concerned with material wealth. He, like every loving parent, dreams only of the happiness of his own children and grandchildren. Today, Kashpirovsky continues to conduct sessions in Russia, America, Kazakhstan, Germany, collecting full halls.
Kashpirovsky became the ancestor of the mass appearance of sorcerers, magicians, psychics, who considered themselves entitled to treat people whose elementary illiteracy is reflected in the destructive habit of creating their idol.
