The Czech company AVG Technologies, which was founded in 1991 by programmers Tomasz Hofer and Jan Gritsbach, is known to many computer users today due to its products focused on security and protection of data privacy, as well as the development of optimizer programs for Windows systems. Consider them in more detail.
Main AVG Technologies Products
As for the company itself, initially it specialized exclusively in the development of antivirus software. In the history of the corporation AVG Technologies, which was originally called Grisoft, there are several points associated with its resale.
Nevertheless, the leadership of the corporation that had already changed its name in 2008 did not stand aside and acquired other software products, absorbing smaller firms. So, in addition to the main product AVG Antivirus, due to the acquisition of TuneUp Software GmbH, the product line has been supplemented with programs that optimize and even restore Windows systems after critical failures. These are Glary Utilities and AVG PC Tune Up. Let us dwell separately on some of the main products of AVG Technologies. User reviews about them are not always equivalent. Although even Microsoft in 2006 announced that the antivirus software of this developer is officially available for download from the "Security Center" for Windows Vista.
AVG Antivirus
The antivirus itself from the company AVG Technologies is regarded among computer system users in two ways. On the one hand, home-based and corporate versions are mostly free and, most importantly, they donβt load system resources, such as, for example, such giants as Kaspersky Anti-Virus or a similar product, Eset NOD32 (Eset Smart Security) )
On the other hand, user reviews are such that it is easy to notice that the antivirus itself does not provide adequate system security, instead of disinfecting or deleting infected files, it simply hides them, so to speak, creating the illusion of protection. There are even cases of direct conflicts of this software with the same Windows firewall, although in theory this should not be. In addition, at the level of ensuring online security, the application looks clearly incomplete in the sense that it simply skips threats, not being able to initialize potentially dangerous programs, executable codes, files, add-ons, etc.
AVG PC Tune Up and Glary Utilities
But on the optimizers, user opinions are unambiguous: these are some of the best developments in their field. It all started with Glary Utilities.
At one time, the program looked so simple and as automated as possible that the process of speeding up Windows or fixing errors, thanks to the one-click optimization function, caused legitimate delight among users.
No less interesting was the product AVG Technologies, dubbed PC Tune Up (the developer is the Dutch representative of AVG Netherlands Inc.). It looks clearly more powerful. But regarding the 2015 version, the opinions of users were divided. So, for example, many note that a constant reminder that a load reduction is required or the optimization process is launched, to put it mildly, is pissing. In the menu of the icon that hangs in the system tray, there is not even a command to exit or shut down, so you have to complete the processes from the Task Manager at best.
But in general, all the company's products look quite decent. This is especially true for Windows optimizers and corporate security features (scanners) for Linux systems and even Apple Macs. This is noted by all experts.
