OJSC "Bor Glass Factory" is a leading manufacturer of auto glass in Russia. Since 1997 belongs to the AGC Europe group of companies. The company also produces: dishes, mirrors, polished glass and other products.
History
In the late 1920s, the government of the young Soviet republic decided to build a new glass factory in the city of Bor, Nizhny Novgorod Region. The first work began on 06/05/1930, the release of products - 01/02/1934.
With the development of motor vehicles, there is a need for mass production of windshields of proper quality. In 1940, the Bor Glass Factory mastered the production of triplex. Over time, the celluloid base was replaced with a safer polyvinyl butyral film. Since 1948, the company produces "Stalinite" - tempered auto glass for rear and side glazing.
In 1997, the Bor Glass Factory (BSZ) was acquired by Glaverbel, later renamed AGC Europe. Change of ownership transformed the company. The latest equipment appeared at the production site, working conditions improved, productivity and salaries increased. Since 2013, a Hall of Fame has been installed in each workshop. Heroes are chosen by the workers themselves.
Triplex workshop
The Bor Glass Factory, whose products were previously mainly supplied to domestic automobile factories, has become a major supplier to giants such as Volkswagen, Toyota, Renault and others over the past decade.
Thanks to the new triplex line, launched in 2002, it was possible to take a leading position in the industry. The quality of auto glass has approached the world level. The computerized complex is equipped with imported equipment:
- Bystronic cutting and processing line;
- washing and drying units of flat and resin-coated glass Benteler;
- silk screen printing system Svecia;
- Cnud bending furnace;
- Tamglass vacuum prepress furnace ;
- autoclaved SCHOLZ;
- Sklopan final control line.
Hardening workshop
Here, car windows are heat treated to increase strength. In 2012, the loading and unloading section on a horizontal furnace was updated. 30-year-old equipment was replaced with new one. Modernization allowed an order of magnitude better quality control of the geometry of the glass. Now the machine decides whether a particular instance matches the specified parameters - this completely eliminates the notorious “human factor”. In addition, it became possible to produce Triplex models in four streams, which increased productivity by 15%.
In the event of an unexpected repair or readjustment of equipment, the process will not have to be stopped due to new drives with a reserve of glasses. The operation for transferring products with wrapping paper is also automated. This eliminated defects such as scratches.
Packing shop
Bor Glass Factory pursues a policy of minimizing manual labor. In 2013, a new packaging line was installed. Glass loading is performed by a robotic arm. Two other robots cut off excess film - this is the requirement of foreign partners who were not satisfied with the cut quality at the ends.
Also, at the request of customers, products are checked for optical distortion, but not “by eye”, but automatically. For this purpose, Borsky Zavod purchased the latest Aura diagnostic unit. She checks every inch of glass with optical sensors. The operator’s task includes only visual inspection for scratches, cracks, abrasions. At the last stage of loading products into cassettes, machines work.
Thus, 7 robots on the packaging line allowed halving the number of personnel, completely eliminating hard work, while significantly increasing productivity. When the line is fully loaded, the glass leaves it every 23-25 seconds. The quality of products sold was compared with the best world analogues.
Sensor Installation
In addition to the automated packaging line, robots for loading the BRL-1 and BRL-2 lines were put into operation. They quickly cope with gluing holders of brackets, mirrors, rain sensors. As a result, jewelry accuracy of positioning of these elements is achieved. Previously, the process was semi-automatic, and products were unloaded manually. Now productivity has increased, the cycle time is 17 seconds per glass.
Stretching Center
This is a completely new site, the arrangement of which began in 2012. New German equipment allowed to produce its own elastic stretch-film. Previously, it was bought in the Czech Republic at a high price.
The launch of the site made it possible, on the one hand, to save up to 15%, and on the other hand, to improve quality due to additional purification on a special machine. A warehouse of PVB film has recently been attached to the Triplex workshop; earlier it was located a few kilometers away.
The customer is always right
Bor Glass Factory aims to cater to any requirements of customers. For example, in 2012, the company began to cooperate with Peugeot. This automobile concern makes very stringent requirements for the quality and aesthetic appearance of the purchased products. In particular, the client was not happy that the current bar for the rear window heating was visible from the passenger compartment.
The factory workers went forward. Special equipment was purchased - a new printing machine covers the heating tires with ceramic paint. The line capacity is 240 units per hour. Quality is checked at each stage repeatedly: visually by the operator and automatically by optical sensors. As a result, the customer is satisfied, and the plant receives additional profit.
Cooperation
All 80 years of its history, the Bor Glass Factory has been at the forefront of the industry. Product quality, strict compliance with the requirements of partners, continuous development remain the main priority of the enterprise. Its customers are the world's leading automakers: Nissan, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Skoda, Renault, Peugeot. Recently launched the mass production of triplex glass for Citroen and Volkswagen. Products for old customers continue to improve: specifically for Peugeot, new equipment for triple printing of glass was installed.
Cookware Release
Not only the release of high-quality auto glass is famous for the Borsky glass factory. Dishes are another pride of the enterprise. Here is the only production of glasses, vases, glasses and other products from tempered glass with increased mechanical and thermal strength in the post-Soviet space. Products are popular in Russia, Eastern Europe, Transcaucasia, and the Middle East.
