Alexander Tsaunya is a Latvian footballer who currently stands for CSKA Moscow. This year he turned 28 years old, but the decline he began two years ago. Alexander Tsaunya plays in the position of a defensive midfielder, but can also shift to the left - to the position of the left defender or left midfielder.
Carier start
Alexander Tsaunya was born on January 19, 1988 in Latvia in the city of Daugavpils and from the age of seven he played football in the local youth sports school. In 2002, a 14-year-old guy went through a viewing at one of the largest clubs in the country, Skonto, and moved to the academy. There he continued his studies until 2006, and when he was 18 years old, Skonto offered him a professional contract. So Alexander Tsaunya became a professional footballer.
Club career
Caunia spent the first half of his debut professional season at Skonto, playing 12 matches and scoring one goal. After that, he was sent on loan to Olympus, where he had to gain experience - having returned, the young talent went 11 times onto the field for Skonto and scored two goals. The very next year, he became a regular base player - in the 2007 season he entered the field 26 times, and in the 2008 season - 24 times. In total for these 50 matches, he scored six goals.
At the beginning of the 2009 season, Tsaun was rented by the English Watford, where in six months he played five matches and scored one goal. Later in the summer, he was browsed by another English club, Blackpool, to buy it on an ongoing basis, but the player did not fit the British, so he returned to Latvia, where he continued his performances for Skonto. For the remaining half of the season, he entered the field 13 times, scoring four goals. After playing another 13 matches for Skonto, Tsaunya moved to Moscow CSKA - first on loan, and then on an ongoing basis.
The first two seasons were brilliant - he played 57 matches and scored five goals. However, after that, injuries began to pursue, which practically put an end to the career of such a player as Alexander Tsaunya. CSKA no longer needed such an attacking midfielder. Over the next three years, he played 26 matches, largely due to his versatility, because his position was taken by stronger partners, so he re-qualified as a defensive midfielder and began to close holes on the flank if necessary. In the current season, he has not played a single match, and although his contract with the club was extended a year ago, he is unlikely to stay here for a long time.
Career Team
For the national team of Latvia, Caunia played 45 matches in his career, in which he scored 12 goals. He made his debut for the national team in June 2007, coming on as a substitute for one minute in the match against the Spanish national team. And the last match to date, he spent in October 2015, where the Latvian team played with the national team of Kazakhstan.
