It is sometimes difficult for novice motorists to overcome fear and drive onto the busy streets of the city. Even when you know all the rules of the road, at first a large number of signs and cars are very scary. You can reduce fear by carefully studying once again the adjustments and patterns of movement in certain situations. In this article you will find the rules for the passage of intersections of various types, written in a clear and simple language.
Traffic Laws
SDA appeared simultaneously with the first car. The rules created to protect people from the very beginning regulated the order on the streets and sidewalks, setting the framework. Modern traffic rules is a rather small book, which, nevertheless, included many years of driving experience in human settlements.
What regulate traffic rules? The intersection rules are clearly stated in chapter 13.
- The sequence of movement. In addition to the standard green and red traffic lights, there are other rules that can be difficult to figure out. What to do if the intersection is unregulated? Who should drive first? These and other answers can be found in the Rules.
- Driving Rules Road signs are like a book for drivers. And if you have not learned this language, you will have a hard time. A good knowledge of the signs of DD helps to avoid an accident and maintain health for oneself and others.
- Direction of travel. With the help of markings and some signs, you can understand what place the car should occupy on the road. A strict adherence to the recommendations will allow emergency situations to never occur.
Rules of the road - the most important and essential knowledge for a motorist. In every trip you will definitely meet at least one traffic light. In order to better understand the traffic pattern on them, it is better to begin to study traffic rules with the rules of movement at intersections.
Regular intersection driving rules
The so-called “classic” intersection is the intersection of two roads. If it is accompanied by a traffic light, it is called adjustable. But you need to look not only at red or green lights, but also at signs and markings according to traffic rules. The rules for driving through regulated intersections are quite simple:
- If there is a dashed line at the intersection that indicates a traffic pattern, it is better to go without crossing it. In any case, whether there are signs or not, you must move strictly along “your” territory, without cutting corners and not jumping out into the oncoming lane.
- Before you start driving, always look carefully at the signs: it is possible that turning from your lane is forbidden, or only turning is allowed. Attentiveness and concentration are very helpful for beginners at the very beginning of the "road".
Unregulated intersection rules
If everything is clear with adjustable traffic lights, then with unregulated traffic the situation is more complicated. If you see such a crossing in front of you, do not be alarmed, but remember the main traffic rules. The rules for driving unregulated intersections that concern them are highlighted, we repeat, in Chapter 13.
- You have an advantage if you are driving along the main road. Feel free to continue driving in this case, but do not forget to look around before this.
- If the roads at the intersection are equivalent, you will need to skip all the cars on the right. If you turn, give way to those who ride straight.
Most importantly, keep in mind the idea that road users may not know or may not remember the rules of travel. Be careful and double-check each step, remembering to follow others.
Roundabout Rules
Circular intersections are the easiest of all, because it is almost impossible to run into anyone at them. Traffic in a circle smoothly leads to the road those who leave the adjacent streets. Despite this, it will not be superfluous to study the rules for driving roundabouts. Traffic rules clearly regulate the sequence of traffic at the intersection of roads. What should the driver pay attention to?
- Signs of priority: be careful, basically the one who only calls at the intersection should give way. But there are crossroads where the advantage of movement is reversed. Such intersections are regulated by the sign “Main road”.
- Marking: it is extremely important to move strictly along it in order to avoid a collision with cars that are only entering the intersection.
- Speed: roundabouts usually have rather sharp turns, so it’s recommended that you slow down before you start driving in such a section.
Often at such crossroads there are pedestrian crossings, which are not always noticeable due to the turn. You must let people through, this is indicated in the SDA. The roundabout rules of the roundabout also oblige you to concede to cars approaching on your right (unless the “Main road” sign is on). Be especially careful in such cases.
How to choose a trajectory
The trajectory of movement is especially difficult in traffic rules. The intersection rules are such that the easiest way is to turn right. In this case, you need to monitor the work of the traffic light and skip all pedestrians. But when turning left, you need to control all participants in the movement. Below are the steps to help you turn left at the intersection of several roads.
- Take the leftmost position.
- Turn on the turn signal before turning.
- Wait for the permission signal of the traffic light and take a position approximately in the middle of the intersection, in your lane.
- Skip all oncoming cars.
- Make a U-turn.
When turning left, you can occupy the left and right lanes. Their choice will depend on the trajectory of the machine.
What to do in case of emergency
Unfortunately, accidents occur most often at intersections. In order to avoid various unpleasant incidents, follow traffic rules. The intersection rules indicate all the necessary conditions, by fulfilling which you can be sure that the accident will not happen because of your fault:
- observe the speed limit;
- follow the markup;
- start driving only at the traffic light permitting signal;
- skip the road users traveling straight (or to the right if the intersection is unregulated);
- carefully read signs, especially indicating the direction of movement.
Beginners are usually very scared to go to intersections. Due to the fear of making a mistake, the likelihood of not doing something or forgetting something increases. Therefore, the most important thing when driving at a road intersection is to remain calm. Do not forget to closely monitor other participants in the movement. Before the trip, carefully study the rules for the passage of roundabouts according to traffic rules. Good luck on the road!
