Hannover horse breed: description
Looking at an animal of this breed, you understand that it combines beauty and strength. The famous Hanoverian breed of horses was bred with the assistance of George II. Thanks to him, in 1735 a state equestrian factory was founded in the town of Celle, and it was from here that beautiful sports horses came. Initially, when breeding, the Hannover horse was to become a high-quality and inexpensive working animal. But later they began to take horses for cavalry. To use such beautiful animals for household purposes is simply blasphemy.
The Hanoverian breed of horses is bred by farms of Lower Saxony. But the origin of this species occurred in the Hanover region, which in 1946 became part of Saxony. That's why animals got the name of the breed. An interesting fact is that the coat of arms of Hanover itself depicts a white horse, although representatives of this breed are not bright colors. How can this be explained? Let's go back to the history of the breed.
History of the Hannover breed of horses
Once in Hanover there was a princely stable, white albino horses were bred in it. The animals had red eyes, and they themselves were completely white. Now it is believed that such animals were specially raised for the carriage of King George II. Snow-white elegant horses in a red harness looked very impressive in combination with a golden carriage.
But such horses were completely unsuitable for the army and for the economy, too, were of no value. Their hair is too easily soiled, and the animals themselves were very moody. For these reasons, after two hundred years (around 1896), they disappeared as a species. However, the memory of them has since remained on the coat of arms. For some reason, it is believed that these horses became the basis for breeding a new German breed.
Hannover breed formation periods
Hanover dukes often brought Spanish and Eastern trophy horses to Lower Saxony. In 1714, Ludwig of Hanover came to power, better known in history as George II. So, it was he who began to regularly send valuable horses to these places. And in 1735 a real stud farm was founded in the town of Celle, and a breeding center for the very best stallions was created. A little more time will pass, and the Hanoverian breed of horses will appear. Its origin covers four periods. But it was from this moment that the history of the formation of the breed began.
The first period began precisely with the foundation of the stud farm in Celle, which was tasked with obtaining strong, strong, universal horses for rural work and cavalry. The best Prussian, Andalusian, Holstein, Danish stallions were brought to the factory. Peasant mares became the basis for a new breed.
In 1815, the war with Napoleon ended, and at this time the second period in the history of the breed begins. At this time, English high-spirited horses came into fashion, for this reason a hippodrome was built in Celle. At the same time, German horses began to be crossed with purebred English horses. Among the individuals of the new breed, two varieties stood out: massive animals for household needs and noble horses.
Change breed priorities
The third period began in the seventies of the nineteenth century. Then they founded a pedigree breed book. Since that time, work has begun on purposefully consolidating the best qualities of horses. And in 1921 the foundation of the Hanoverian Tribal Union, which worked closely with the German Sports Union, took place. It was during this period that massive, strong harness horses began to be ennobled to strengthen the riding direction.
Experts believe that the fourth period began in the mid-twentieth century and continues to this day. It is primarily associated with the powerful mechanization of the whole world. In fact, the Hanoverian breed of horses (photo is given in the article) moved from universal to the rank of upscale riding animals. The purpose of using such horses was exclusively equestrian sport. In the sixties they began to intensively add blood to the breed of Holstein and Trakenen horses to improve athletic performance. Now the Hanoverian breed of horses has found strict criteria for the selection and evaluation of appearance.

The horse's chest is well developed and formed in such a way that the animal can easily overcome the highest obstacles and barriers. The shoulders are a little slanting and long, which positively affects the movement. The Hanoverian breed of horses, the features of which we have described, has a powerful back and well-formed croup. Such characteristics allow animals to perform powerful tremors during jumps.
Ideal horse parameters
Ideally, the Hanover case should fit in a rectangle, not a square. This suggests that the body should be lengthened. But with regard to growth, it has average parameters - 164-168 centimeters. The legs of the animal are strong and high, the shape of the hooves is correct. The color of horses exists only dark: bay or black, very rarely found Karak and red horses.

These were the horses Gunther, Duo, Valerik and Faust. For thirty years, animals of this breed were bred at the plant without adding fresh blood.
Only at the end of the nineties Holstein and Tracts began to be brought to the plant to improve the quality of the existing Hanover. Interest has grown in the breed itself.
