"The Tale of a Real Man" - a review of fiction on the victory of our country in the Great Patriotic War. The fate of the fighter pilot Alexei Meresyev reflects the heroic features of many people who have borne the brunt of the war on their shoulders.
The beginning of the story
This story was recorded in 1943 by Boris Polevoy, a war correspondent for the newspaper Pravda, who was firsthand to learn about everything that the Soviet military pilot suffered, a very young guy.
A significant meeting between the military commander Polevoy and the pilot Maresyev, the guard senior lieutenant of the fighter regiment, took place near Oryol on the Bryansk front of the Kursk Bulge.
The pilots of this regiment shot down about fifty enemy aircraft in a few days. It was a major military success, and the military commissar Polevoy was sent to the unit to report on the glorious Soviet soldiers.
A meeting

It was read on the radio, printed in newspapers, and repeatedly reprinted both in our country and abroad. The legless pilot Aleksey Meresyev literally burst into people's minds and hearts.
The story was filmed. Prokofiev’s opera “The Tale of a Real Man” was later staged.
The recall of the real Alexei Maresyev was concise. The guy said that he was a man, not a legend, and there was nothing unusual in him. Maresyeva was distinguished by modesty; fame embarrassed him.
Wound

In April 1942, the fighter of Lieutenant Meresyev was shot down in battle. The plane crashed into the Black Forest, in the rear of German divisions. The pilot was thrown onto the wide paws of the fir trees, along which he moved into a snowdrift. It saved his life. Alex decided to make his way to the front, from where the sounds of battle were heard. He walked with difficulty on his wounded legs, and when his legs refused, he crawled. On the eighteenth day of Meresyev, who was completely weakened, the boys from the village of Plavni found. There was no doctor in the village. The collective farmers nursed the pilot until the arrival of the squadron commander Degtyarenko. Meresyev was taken to the airfield of the flight unit, and then by ambulance to the hospital in Moscow.
Gangrene struck the wounded legs, they had to be amputated. For a pilot to be legless means to forget about the sky. The meaning of life was lost. But a meeting in the hospital with Commissioner Vorobyov returned Alexei’s faith and hope of flying, fighting the Nazis to victory.
Return to duty
Walking on prostheses was painful, but he did not give up - he learned not only to walk, but also to run, and dance.
Maresyev got directions to the training regiment. During the first flight with the instructor could not hold back tears. This legless cadet aroused admiration from the instructor, and he made a flight program specifically for Alexei.
Alexey left the training school with excellent recommendations. His desire to return to battle formation was realized.

This story has a happy ending in reality. Already in the summer of the forty-third, the fighter pilot Maresyev returned to duty and fought heroically.
At the end of the war, he married his girlfriend. He had a son, whom his mother helped to nurse. Maresyev always supported himself in excellent shape, worked as an instructor in the Air Force school in Moscow.
After the release of the book, the writer and the hero met and for many years, until the death of Polevoy, communicated and together served the cause of peace.
