In battles, very often sparring ends with the complete victory of an athlete. With an accurate and trained blow, he knocks the opponent to the floor. If the judge counted off the prescribed period of time, and the fighter could not get up, then they say "won by knockout." Let us consider more carefully what is the meaning of such a phrase.
Knockout
This is the end of a meeting of athletes in which the loser cannot continue the fight after 10 seconds. They are counted by the referee, who is in the ring. As a result of missing a series or one accurate hit, the boxer falls to the floor. His spatial orientation is disturbed, a concussion may occur, or severe dizziness appears.
Based on practice, it has long been known that in boxing it is not enough to have the will to win and perform daily exhausting workouts. You must be able to tolerate pain and wounds. Knockout is the result of the most prevailing injuries encountered in martial arts.
The most vulnerable areas of the body
The weakest point is the lower jaw of a person. Due to its mobility, the greatest inertia force is transmitted to the brain . As a result, he shifts and hits the skull. The boxer gets lost in spatial orientation, and he loses consciousness.
A blow to the solar plexus leads to a shortage of air, and the boxer feels suffocation. Also, strong impact shocks include hits in the liver, the left aorta and a series of strokes on the body.
Sometimes a technical knockout occurs in battle. This is the end of the meeting at the signal that the judge, coach or doctor gives.
What you need for a knockout
Only one of the most gifted fighters has the ability to lay an opponent in the ring with one hit. Here, in addition to training, you need talent. Together with him, the athlete polishes his skills and becomes a real champion. But the result is achieved only through daily exhausting training.
Experts, having looked at many fights in which the knockouts ended the competition, revealed the main components of a victory strike:
- Force. The ability to quickly defeat an opponent depends on the ability to concentrate the power of the legs, trunk and arm at the same time.
- Intuition. This is a feeling that will tell the athlete when to put all his strength into a single accurate blow.
- Clenching a fist. At the moment when the brush touches the target, the fist should be compressed to the maximum extent.
- Disguise. The ability to hide the decisive blow more than once knocked out strong opponents.
- Counterattack. The force of the impact increases many times due to the oncoming movement of the body of the attacking athlete.
- Psychology. Before a battle with any opponent, you should only set yourself up for victory.
What is the difference between knockout and knockdown
There are times when an athlete, after receiving a crushing blow, does not fall, but begins to lean on the ring with any part of the body (arm, knee or elbow).
This is a knockdown. In other words, a person’s loss of balance due to an attack. In this case, the judge starts the countdown to 10. If the fighter was able to rise, then the fight continues, if not, then a knockout is recorded. This means the end of the battle, regardless of the athlete’s desire to continue the fight.
