Abdul Waris is a Ghanaian footballer playing for the French Lorient. This year he turned 25 years old, so there is still a lot of playing time ahead of him. Abdul Waris plays the position of the central striker, however, if necessary, can be shifted to the flank - both on the right and on the left.
Carier start
Abdul Waris was born on September 19, 1991 in Ghana, where at the age of 12 he joined the football academy of the local club Wright Tu Dream. He spent five years there, and when he was 17 years old, he went in search of a better fate to England, where he entered Hartpery College, for whose team he played for two years. In 2010, he was spotted by scouts of the Swedish club Hekken, who proposed that the young man conclude a professional sports contract. So Abdul Waris began his career as a football player.
Relocation to Sweden
In Sweden, Majid Abdul Waris spent three seasons, during which he appeared on the field 63 times. The most successful was his third season - during the first two he only adapted, so he managed to score only four goals. But in 2012, he managed to score 26 goals in 35 games, which, of course, attracted the attention of more serious clubs. In 2012, the Moscow club โSpartakโ turned to the Swedish club with a transfer offer, and it bought the contract of a young Ghanaian for three million euros. And since January 2013, Waris began performing in Russia, where, unfortunately, he was waiting for a big disappointment.
Failure in Spartak
Unfortunately, Spartak did not fall into the place of Abdul Waris. The attacker was acquired, but no one let him play in full. He couldnโt open normally, as he did in Sweden, so in his first season he entered the field only seven times, failing to score a single goal. In January 2014, Waris was leased for six months to Valenciennes, where he showed a very good result - he scored ten goals in 16 matches. But, returning to Spartak, Waris again met with the problem of lack of playing practice. He played nine more matches for the club, scoring one single goal. After that, it was decided to sell it while there were buyers who were impressed by his game at Valenciennes. The Turkish Trabzonspor was so interested that it did not regret six million euros, and in the fall of 2014 Waris moved to Turkey.
The game for Trabzonspor
In the Turkish club, the Ghanaian began to receive much more playing practice - during the season he entered the field 26 times. However, he did not show effectiveness - for all this time he was able to score only four goals. The Turks did not show patience and a year later decided to get rid of the player by selling him to the French Lorient for four and a half million euros - a little less than they paid for it a year ago.
Transition to Lorient
The Ghanaian spent his first season in the new club very well - he played 25 matches, in which he scored 12 goals. Naturally, this was not the most outstanding result - but it was clear that Waris was much more comfortable playing in France. This season he has already managed to enter the field 18 times, scoring five goals and giving two assists. His contract with the club is designed until 2020.
Team appearances
In the Ghana national team, Abdul Waris made his debut in March 2012, when he just appeared in the Swedish Hekken. Then he came on as a substitute in a friendly match against the national team of Chile. While he was in Spartak, calls to the team stopped, but already from the end of 2013, Abdul began to fall into the application again. As a result, he went to the 2014 World Cup, where he played only one match out of three. He missed the 2015 African Cup due to injury, so now he can only rely on the 2018 World Cup. To date, Waris has played 25 matches for the Ghana national team, in which he scored four goals.
