Alexei Nazarov grew up an ordinary boy in the city of Ivanovo. Like his peers, he played the “war game” and the “Cossack robbers”, took part in the battles of tin armies, and made simple pistols and slingshots from improvised materials.
In adolescence, the guy became interested in "Zarnitsa". Once during the competition, the group was tasked with sending a note attached to the arrow to the opposite bank of the river. The goal was achieved by a single arrow - sent by a future gunsmith.
Later, the young man became interested in music and created a group. The Soviet teenager simply had nowhere to take tools. But Alexey did not stop it - he made bass, rhythm and solo guitar with his own hand!
Once, the book “Winds of the Kulikovo Field” fell into his hands, which changed his life. Perhaps it is precisely this book that Alexey Nazarov's Caliber company owes its appearance.
Living fantasy painted scenes of battles and images of the heroes of the past, and colorful illustrations depicting samples of Russian and Turkish sabers simply did not give rest, causing an irresistible thirst for activity. The first apprentices of Alexei were a little daughter and wife Irina. Together, right in the family kitchen, the Nazarovs created their first gun. It was not a copy of any really existing model, but the design traced the style of the XVII century.

Without professional tools, original drawings, special education and any experience, Alexei Nazarov began his business. The future gunsmith received start-up capital by selling a small video showroom with equipment in the late 80s. Many friends laughed at the dreamer, because in those years, video rental was one of the most profitable options for private business. But Nazarov did not listen to anyone. He acquired several small machines, which he placed in the same kitchen, and began to study materiel. In addition to the literature that was so hard to obtain in the perestroika libraries, the master drew knowledge in communication with the staff of the Ivanovo Museum of Local Lore. Trying to comply with the weapons traditions of certain eras, Nazarov never forgot about the author's style.
The weapons factory “Nazarov and Caliber” was officially registered in 1991. Currently, the company is known throughout Russia. Nazarov works closely with Cossack communities, archaeologists, restaurateurs, historians, film studios, artists, criminologists, reenactors, collectors, and, of course, with colleagues.
