PJSC Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant is one of the top ten domestic producers of rolled steel. In addition to steel, cast iron is smelted at the enterprise, and concrete and reinforced concrete structures are made. NMZ is located in the north of the Sverdlovsk region, in the city of Serov.
Creature
The Urals since the time of Peter I is the most important mining and industrial center of Russia. After the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway in the 19th century, the region gained a second wind. There was an opportunity to develop industry in new territories, the development of which was previously hampered by transport inaccessibility.
After the railway in a remote corner of the Urals, the construction of a large ferrous metallurgy plant began. The foundation of the enterprise took place on May 29, 1894. After 19 months, the first steel was smelted, a little later they began to manufacture railway rails.
The plant received the poetic name Nadezhdinsky in honor of the wife of the owner of the enterprise A. A. Polovtsov - Nadezhda Mikhailovna. It was the largest metallurgical production in the Urals. The equipment came from the best manufacturers of Belgium, France, Germany. By 1913, one fifth of all Ural metal was smelted within its walls.
Development
The revolution and the ensuing bloody civil war did not disrupt the work of the Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant. Until 1931, the basis of the product was all the same rails, high-quality iron and roofing, refractory materials, and blanks for ammunition.
Since 1931, the NMZ profile has changed dramatically. The government has commissioned the production of high-quality high-grade steels and rolled products of various sections, so necessary for the nascent Soviet industry. In 1933, a calibration workshop was launched, in which cold-rolled products were manufactured, followed by turning and grinding.
During the war, the Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant (Serov) had special hopes. He was one of the few suppliers of high-quality steel and rolled products of more than one hundred grades. They mastered alloying methods with titanium, nickel, vanadium, chromium, and molybdenum. In 1946, factory workers were awarded the well-deserved award - the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
The following decades, production progressively developed. Productivity, working culture increased, housing, infrastructure were built, social and cultural programs were carried out. In 1975, the production of sucker rods for pumps (submersible and oil) was established.
New stage
The Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant experienced its rebirth as part of the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company. Over 16 years, the enterprise has undergone a massive reconstruction, based on the transition from open-hearth furnace to electric steelmaking.
The electric steelmaking complex as a part of DSP-80, out-of-furnace steel processing units (ladle furnace and vacuum vessel) and other auxiliary equipment provides a production volume of over 500,000 tons of steel annually. During this time, the production of 328 grades of metal was mastered.
Thanks to vacuum processing, the quality indicators for steels supplied to engineering and automotive industries have increased. In addition, the Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant again produces ball-bearing steel with guaranteed quality. Having a wide range of products (over 400 types), the Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant annually replenishes it with new profile sizes of rolled products at high-quality mills 850, 450 and 320. Calibrated steel with improved machining properties for the automotive industry is produced at the stages of calibration production.
Over the past 7 years at NMZ 19 new rolling profiles have been mastered. By 2014, the volume of production of newly developed types of products reached 80,000 tons - this is 16% of the total volume of rolled metal sold over the year.
Description
In 2016, the company turned 120 years old. Over the course of a century, several generations of specialists have changed, the production technology has been updated, and the product range has expanded significantly. Today PJSC "NMZ" is an important part of the UMMC holding.
The plant carries out work on the technology of full metallurgical redistribution. Steel rolling is made here:
- carbon in accordance with GOST 1050-88;
- alloyed in accordance with GOST 4543-71;
- ball bearing according to GOST 801-78;
- automatic in accordance with GOST 1414-75.
Only 328 marks. The productivity of the Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant is 550,000 tons of calibrated steel and metal.
The output is mainly oriented to the domestic market. Among the advantages of the work is the possibility of ordering small-tonnage batches of metal, the production and delivery of which are carried out in a short time.
Production
The positions of the Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant in the gauge rolling sector are the strongest, where the enterprise stably holds 2-3 positions among Russian manufacturers. In the long products sector, NMZ has been held in the TOP-10 of domestic producers for many years. And this despite the pressure of such giants as Mechel, MMK, Severstal and other large plants.
The plant mastered the smelting of a rare type of steel - hollow drilling. Some of it is exported. In this direction, the company occupies a leading position. In the sector of pipe billets, the presence of a metallurgical plant named after A.K. Serova is insignificant - about 1% of the market. However, NMZ has a stable sales market, supplying pipe blanks to its long-standing partner - PNTZ OJSC.
Products
Metallurgical Plant. A. K. Serova produces:
- rolled products with special surface finish;
- rolling gauge (hexagonal, round);
- long products (hexagonal, square, round);
- pig iron;
- vitriol;
- various blanks (pipe, axial).
In addition, NMZ offers a wide range of reinforced concrete products:
- foundation beams, support pillows;
- wall blocks for basements, indoor and outdoor blocks;
- columns, plates, rings, lintels;
- marches of stair, parapet slabs;
- floor panels;
- slabs and posts for fencing, flat slabs;
- driven piles.
Modernization
To maintain competitiveness, the management of the UMMC holding is carrying out a phased reconstruction of PJSC "NMZ". A steel melting arc 80-ton electric furnace was commissioned. Due to the increased intensity of production, electric steelmaking technology is more profitable.
A water treatment station, gas treatment facilities, power supply facilities were also built, an Italian vacuum installation was introduced. A new department has been launched where ferroalloys are prepared. Argon block launched. A significant achievement was the launch of the oxygen plant. The equipment of the Italian company SIAD allows producing 5100 m 3 of oxygen per hour.
Newly acquired equipment allows increasing production flexibility, significantly updating the product range, and rebuilding technological capacities in accordance with market conditions. Already now, up to 30 metal melts are carried out at the NMP.
