Athlete Biography
Evgeny Rylov was born in September 1996 in the city of Novotroitsk, which is located in the Orenburg region.
Due to the fact that his father played for different football teams, the family often changed their place of residence. When Eugene was ten years old, he ended up in Fryazino near Moscow, and then in Vidnoye.
First sports steps
For the first time, parents brought the future Olympic medalist to the pool on the advice of doctors at the age of six. Almost from the first lesson, Evgeny Rylov was very interested in swimming. The training took place in the Volna Novotroitsky pool, and Andrei Gennadievich Shishin became the first mentor of the young athlete.
After moving to the Moscow region, classes did not stop. A new place for training has become a recreation and educational center "Dolphin". Gulnara Romanadze's mentors at that time were, and then again Andrey Shishin. Rylov's crown discipline is backstroke swimming at distances of 100 and 200 meters.
The first sports success was the prize at the summer Spartakiad among students, held in 2011. At the age of 16, Evgeny Rylov becomes the winner and prize winner of the Moscow Region Championship. In 2013, he repeats his achievements in this tournament and sets new youth national records at one hundred and two hundred meter swimming distances. These indicators allowed him to fulfill the standard of a master of sports at the age of 16.
Achievements in professional sports
Before the start of the Summer Youth Olympics, which was held in 2014 in the Chinese city of Nanjing, the coaches had high hopes for the 18-year-old swimmer. And he did not let them down. Evgeny Rylov became the three-time winner of the most prestigious youth tournament of the planet. At the same time, he established two new achievements: at a distance of 100 meters on the back, the swimmer updated the youth record of Russia, and at the 50-meter mark - the world.
2015 brought Rylov a new achievement. As a member of the Russian national team, he took part in the World Cup in Kazan, where he managed to win a bronze medal in the fight against the most powerful swimmers on the planet.
At the Rio Olympics, 19-year-old Rylov rode as a "dark horse." Opponents feared Eugene, but doubted his successful performance.
But the Russian athlete from the very first qualification heats showed everyone his serious intentions. He made his way to the finals with the sixth time.
And here he is - a medal swim 200 meters on his back. Evgeny Rylov finished third, minimally losing to eminent Ryan Murphy from the USA and Australian Mitch Larkin.
Now the newly-made bronze medalist of the Olympics is intensively preparing for new international competitions, while at the same time serving in the law enforcement bodies of the Russian Federation.
