The sports day is a competition primarily of the socialist countries. The concept itself appeared in the twenties in Germany. Among the left-wing activists, the image of the gladiator Spartacus, who raised the revolt of slaves in ancient Rome, was popular. Competitions were named in his honor. They took place exclusively between representatives of communist and socialist parties. Then this definition became popular in the Soviet Union.
In the twenties, the Olympic movement fell into decay. At the games of the twenty-fourth year there were no athletes from Germany and its allies in the First World War. In addition, representatives of the RSFSR were not invited. Officially, the International Olympic Committee substantiated this by not recognizing the new regime in Russia. In response to this, the Soviet ministry itself already announced a boycott of the Games. In response to this, a spartakiad began to be held in the country. This movement developed by analogy with the Olympic. It was believed that competitions of the working class should be held separately from bourgeois shows. Such an idea appealed to pro-communist sports clubs around the world.
Organization
The sports day is held in various categories. It can compete workers of the same factory, students of the same school, the military, and so on. Sports disciplines most often duplicate Olympic sports.
