Location
168 km from the city of Baku is a small settlement called Guba. It is also the district center of the Guba district. This area has an excellent location and rich infrastructure, so many tourists prefer to come here.

Historical facts
The base of the city dates back to the 15th century. In 1735, the city of Cuba (Guba) was transformed and became the capital of the Cuban Khanate, which was located on the modern territory of northeastern Azerbaijan and southern Dagestan. The decision to transfer the residence of the ruler from the city of Khudat was made by Huseyn Ali Khan. In 1806 there was an invasion of Russian troops, after which, in 1813, the city of Guba (Azerbaijan) became part of the Russian Empire. This decision was made in accordance with the Gulistan Peace Treaty.
In 1840, the Caspian region was established, and the city became the administrative center of the county of the same name.
After the October Revolution of 1917, when the tsarist government of Russia was overthrown and unrest began in all regions, the rebel detachment, led by Amazasp Srvantstyan, destroyed the city of Gubu and other towns and cities of the county in 1918. The consequences of this tragedy were discovered in 2007, when the city began to build a stadium. The builders found a mass grave underground, in which there were up to 400 bodies, among which 50 belonged to children and 100 to women. Studies of the remains carried out by Azerbaijani scientists showed that the burial was carried out at the beginning of the 20th century.
Unique nature

Among the most famous attractions include the following historical monuments:
- The ruins of the ancient fortress Gilgilchay. According to historians, this is the oldest architectural building in these places. The fortress was erected in the V-VI century, and its founder was a representative of the dynasty of Iranian rulers, the Sassanids. The walls were 6 m thick and reached a height of 9 m. On the fortress towered 15-meter towers, which were located at a distance of 20-30 m from each other.
- Medieval Agbil Mausoleums, whose age is about 500 years. Two buildings have a rectangular shape, and the third mausoleum has a unique architecture.
- The village of Khanalyg. This village is located near the city of Guba. In Azerbaijan it is one of the favorite places for tourists. Here is an old temple, built in the IX century, where worshipers of the ancient cult - Zoroastrians worshiped their deity.
