Dmitry Borodin is a Russian goalkeeper, a pupil of the St. Petersburg football school. During his career, he played in many domestic clubs in the Premier League and First Division. Now I began to engage in coaching.
Early career
Dmitry Borodin was born in 1977 in Leningrad. In a football school, he settled in the position of goalkeeper, in the same role he spent his entire career.
The first club for which Borodin began to play was the St. Petersburg Lokomotiv. He began to play in it at the age of 19. The team at that time played in the First Division. The goalkeeper spent both seasons, in each of which the club took 16th place.
By 1999, Borodin entrenched in the main squad, spent a total of 28 matches, in which he conceded 28 goals.
The main team of the city on the Neva
In 2000, Dmitry Borodin moved to the main St. Petersburg team - Zenit. It was in this club that he achieved the greatest success, having won all the trophies in his career. As a goalkeeper, Zenit was repeatedly called up to the national team of Russia, however, he did not play a single match.
In 2000, Zenit suffered a change in head coach. In place of Anatoly Davydov came Yuri Morozov, with whom Petersburgers had already won the medals of the USSR football championship 20 years ago. Under Morozov, Borodin got a chance to gain a foothold in the main team. However, most of the matches were played in the country's cup and Intertoto cup.
In European competitions, Dmitry Borodin made his debut in the second round of the Intertoto Cup in matches against the Slovenian team Primorye. Petersburgers won at home 3: 0 and secured success on the road 3: 1.
In the third round of the rivals, “Zenith” went to the Hungarian “Tatabanya”. Both matches, “Zenith” won with the same score 2: 1. In the semifinals, the English “Bradford” was defeated in the home match 1: 0, however, in the return match a bitter struggle did not work. The Russian team confidently won 3-0.
In the final, the St. Petersburg club met with the Spanish “Celta”. But they failed to win the Intertoto Cup . In the first match, “Zenith” for the first time in the tournament lost away: 1: 2, the return home match ended in a productive draw 2: 2.
As part of the "black and white"
In 2002, Dmitry Borodin moved to the Moscow “Torpedo”, becoming for many years the main goalkeeper of the team. The most successful for Borodin was the first season in the “black and white”.
From the first rounds, the team settled down in the leaders of the Russian championship, as a result of finishing in 4th place. The team won 14 matches out of 30, winning a ticket to the UEFA Cup. Borodin missed 32 goals of the season, showing a third result in the Premier League.
But 2006 was a failure for the "torpedo". The team won only 3 matches out of 30, took the penultimate place and dropped out of the Premier League. Moreover, “black and white” did not have special chances for salvation. From Moscow “Dynamo”, which took 14th place, they were 12 points behind.
In the “Torpedo” goalkeeper played 134 matches, conceiving 167 goals.
At the end of a football career
In 2008, Dmitry Borodin joined the Sibir team. The footballer began performing in the First Division. Despite the fact that the contract was concluded according to the 1 + 1 system, less than six months later he left the club by mutual agreement of the parties. For “Siberia” Borodin played 17 matches, conceiving 15 goals.
The new team was Makhachkala “Anji”. In the team, he finished the season, having spent 16 matches in the goal range, in which he missed 11 goals. “Anji” at the end of the season was 6th.
In 2009, Borodin returned to St. Petersburg “Zenith”. Here he spent three seasons, however, almost did not appear on the field. He played only 2 matches, conceiving 2 goals. At first, he briefly acted on loan at Khimki. In 2012, he announced his retirement.
Switching to coaching, Davydov worked for two seasons with the youth team of St. Petersburg “Zenith”. SM 2015 works as a coach of goalkeepers of FC Dynamo St. Petersburg team.
