The press center “Argument and Facts - Petersburg” met representatives of sports federations of St. Petersburg and the region, including Boris Romanovich Paykin, a candidate for the State Duma. The main topic of discussion was the development of sports and sports activities among children. There was also talk about testing the child’s sports capabilities and the right choice of physical exercises for him.
The problem of sports in the Leningrad region and Russia
The reason that not many children are passionate about sports is considered to be poor parent awareness. Svetlana Kuzmitskaya, deputy chairman of the Committee on Physical Culture and Sports in St. Petersburg, said that the exhibition “I Choose Sport”, which was held at the Expoforum on September 11 and 12, should correct the situation, involve parents and children in sports. The exhibition presents not only stands, but also performances, competitions, meetings with athletes, master classes. Any visitor to the exhibition could try on himself some kind of sport and enroll in sports clubs and sections that are available throughout St. Petersburg for free.
Svetlana Kuzmitskaya also gave statistics: only 15% of schoolchildren are healthy. The main task of all those gathered at the round table should be to help students in choosing a sport. Thus, health indicators among them can improve several times.
Experts pointed out that such initiatives are often taken into the hands of unprofessional fitness clubs and sports schools, which often do not even have a qualified staff of trainers. The Committee on Physical Culture and Sports promised to monitor this situation and solve it.
Sports boarding for children
Paykin Boris Romanovich, president of the Football Federation of the Leningrad Region, said that the Tosno football club is trying to help the districts of the Leningrad Region. So, several sets of football uniforms were transported to the districts. Boris Romanovich himself traveled around the settlements and handed out balls, uniforms. In the future, it is planned to continue this activity. Along with this, Paykin is asking the guys if they know about a football club in the region. The coaching staff of the club constantly visits the areas in order to identify promising football players, light the hearts of children, instill a love of football.
But so that everything was not just like that, you need to build a boarding school, which will become the basis for the development of sports in the Leningrad region. Even one educational institution will fundamentally change the situation.
