How did it happen that a girl from Belarus, a country that can hardly be called a biathlon power, became the best biathlete on the planet.
First steps
In an ordinary, completely unsportsmanlike family (both parents are architects), on August 3, 1986 in Minsk, Dasha Domracheva, the future star of world biathlon, is born. At 4 years old, Daria's parents moved to the small Siberian town of Nyagan. It would seem that there are prerequisites for playing sports in such a city. It is clear that the Siberian climate initially encourages children to practice skiing. However, Daria made her first sporting choice in favor of basketball. And only then, under the influence of her elder brother, Daria took up skiing. And biathlon appeared in her life only in 1999.
After school, Daria entered Tyumen University at the Faculty of Sports Management. In 2003, the Domrachev family decided to return to their native Belarus, and Daria received a diploma of higher education at the Belarusian State Economic University at the Department of Tourism Management. The theme of the thesis is “Advertising in the tourism industry”.
Professional career
The beginning of a professional career in biathlon at Daria Domracheva took place in the Russian team. Already at the junior level, the high potential of the athlete was understood. But the competition that prevailed at that time in the Russian national team did not allow hoping for a place in the main part of the adult national team. And in 2004, Daria decides to continue her professional career in the Belarusian team. The first international starts under the flag of Belarus took place in 2005. And already in 2006, at the age of twenty, Daria made her debut at the stages of the biathlon World Cup. According to the results of the season, Daria was in 16th place in the total total, which is quite a good result for the debutant of competitions of this level.
In the future, the results are increasing. Daria regularly enough falls into the top ten strongest, it would seem, a stone's throw from the pedestal. But Daria manages to make the unthinkable at the cup stage in Oberhof: in the lead in the race, Daria is mistaken in the order of fire and instead of shooting from the ground does it from a standing position. As a result, Daria is disqualified, and a possible victory floats away to her rivals. This unfortunate failure did not affect the final place in the standings of the World Cup 2008-09. Domracheva finished sports year in third place. By the way, embarrassment similar to Oberhof’s happened in Domracheva’s career again. Speaking again in Oberhof, Daria managed to shoot at someone else's target.
The 2011-2012 season brought her the first world championship medals. Daria won silver in the mass start and, together with other Belarusian girls, became the bronze medalist of the relay race.
This season was in the struggle of two biathlon stars Magdalena Neuner and Daria Domracheva. Where the German took speed, Daria responded with more accurate shooting. After the end of the career of the German biathlete, it would seem that Domracheva would not have any rivals on the track. However, again the second place in the overall standings of the World Cup. But a real triumph awaited Daria ahead.

Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics finally elevated Daria Domracheva to the rank of the greatest athletes of our time. The first gold medal was earned in a 10 kilometer pursuit. Moreover, the gap from the finishing second Tour Berger was 38 seconds. Three days later, a new victory - in an individual race of 15 kilometers with a half minute margin from the nearest rival. And the third Sochi gold medal was obtained in the contact race. In the mass start at 12.5 km. Daria again had no equal. As a result, three Olympic gold for one Olympics. A similar result in the women's biathlon has not yet been. The successes of Daria in Sochi did not go unnoticed in the athlete’s homeland. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko personally awarded the athlete with the Hero of Belarus Order.

Possessing a photogenic appearance, Daria quite often finds herself in the spotlight of journalists. At one time, the name of director Maxim Subbotin was featured as a beloved man .
