We are what we eat. But at the same time, are we not what we are sincerely passionate about, which causes us aesthetic pleasure and gives us joy? Is food really just proteins, fats and carbohydrates, or is there a more subtle concept of such a simple and such multifaceted word?
Spiritual food - what is it?
Without nutrition, the body dies - this truth is elementary, so none of the people forget to eat food when hungry. Moreover, taking care of the quality of food, a person is able to spend a lot of time and money, because physiological needs speak in us with a too loud voice.
The requirements of the body are normal, but is it not strange that by putting so much effort into satisfying just one of the natural needs, people are unaccustomed to thinking about mental, energetic nourishment, without which a human being is nothing more than a functioning organism.
Life, subordinated to instincts, brings a person closer to the animal level, regardless of his living conditions and material wealth. But one does not need to think that people need spiritual nourishment in different ways, and someone needs it, and someone is ready for the rest of his life to be content with only food in his stomach. Hearing the weak urges for high sensations and listening to them are all too dissimilar things and the whole difference between highly spiritual people and materialists is precisely this difference.
What is the nutrition of the soul
One hundred years ago, this question simply would not have been understood, because in every family the focus of spiritual food was the home Bible, which was read both for the salvation of the soul and as an entertainment. Much attention was paid to the spiritual food of the child, as to the basis of his perception of the world. Other peoples and religious communities had their own βBibleβ with their own saving canons. But the essence of moral satisfaction from studying the book was not in the form of presentation and not in the name of a saint pronouncing one or another axiom of life, but in a principled position that is considered correct in a given society.
Thus, in none of the Holy Scriptures of the world, whether it is written in Hebrew or Swahili, will there be a call to go out and commit murder or theft, to insult someone with a word or action in response to good.
Spiritual food in the modern world
Of course, the Bible is good and right, but in the modern world there are enough other positive and powerful sources of recharge. We call such a moment of strength aesthetic pleasure, and it can come from a good film that gives pure emotions, from a book that directs our perception of the right in the right direction, from a picture in a museum or a beautiful dance.
It is believed that quality spiritual food is the forerunner of inspiration, creative and other positive spiritual impulses, which are characterized as kind and generous deeds. Mercy is another striking example of correctly received high-quality spiritual food.
Food for thought
By receiving any information that needs to be comprehended, we thereby fuel the brain centers that are responsible for reaction, logic, perception, and many other information processing mechanisms. That is, food is also a whole, undigested amount of knowledge that requires analysis and our personal assessment.
Why food? It is logical to assume that phraseological unit is built on a similar physiological process of acceptance, assimilation and excretion of food products from the body . From the time of the first printed detective stories, it is generally accepted that the best food for thought is given exactly by books, where the author offers the reader complex and confusing situations with a logical conclusion to the story.
Food as it is
Food is an element designed to maintain the vitality and tone of the body. For a uniform distribution across all organs and tissues, without unnecessary deposits or deficiency, nutrients must be fully absorbed, which means they must be natural and have sufficient energy value.
Ever since the time of Hippocrates, adherents of wholesome nutrition have developed a formula that has been relevant for all ages: βFood should be medicine, and medicine should be food.β In fact, replacing the six known elements of the food we are familiar with with the same six, in the form of products that are of real benefit, we will lose the need, at least, in numerous biologically active food additives. This is especially important in the current environmental situation.
What does food consist of?
No matter how gourmet the culinary specialists treat us, the essence of each serving on the plate lies in the complex combination of six simple elements: fats, carbohydrates, proteins, mineral salts, vitamins and the familiar H 2 O.
The elements are the same, but their content in different products is uneven - somewhere fats make up 70% of the mass, and somewhere proteins occupy the same proportion of the product. Consider examples of the predominant content of nutrients in products that fall on our table:
- Fats - contained in any fresh or processed natural dairy product, fat, liquid oils. Fats are divided by origin into animal and vegetable.
- Proteins are not only the white component of chicken eggs, but also all fermented milk products. A lot of protein in fish and meat.
- Carbohydrates are essential for brain function. Thermoregulation of the body is also included in the task of this element, therefore, the complete exclusion of carbohydrates in diets is unacceptable. Since all of them in the process of splitting invariably become simple sugar, their use is recommended to be limited to natural fruits and non-starchy foods.
- The minerals included in the product are auxiliary foods from which only salt we see and consume in its purest form. The remaining elements - magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, etc. are distributed in food products and are part of vitamin-mineral complexes. In total, food contains more than sixty minerals, and the absence of any of them in the diet affects the state of the body as a whole.
- Vitamins are required for better absorption of food. These are vital elements responsible for the state of the immune system.
Water is the basis of the structure of our body, and its daily losses can be compensated only by drinking from a liter and a half of liquids during the day.
In just a day, the body needs to get from the outside: 85 g of fat, 400 g of carbohydrates, 100 g of protein, about 0.5 teaspoon of mineral salts and vitamins with a volume of flaxseed.
