Many admirers of Lermontov’s work call his poem “Testament” a prophetic one, in it he seemed to have foreseen his death and said goodbye to the outside world. In fact, this work has nothing to do with the writer, he composed it in 1840 in the form of a confession of a wounded hero who has only a few days or even hours left to live. At first glance, no coincidence with the fate of Mikhail Yuryevich shows analysis. Lermontov's “testament” is dedicated to all soldiers serving in the army of tsarist Russia.
According to the plot, the poem describes the fate of a wounded soldier talking with a friend. The hero asks to fulfill his last will, he understands that no one is waiting for him, no one needs him, but if anyone asks about him, the comrade must say that the warrior was wounded in the chest by a bullet and honestly died for the king. You can tell the truth only to a neighbor with whom the hero was once in love. She will sincerely cry, but will not take to heart his death.
Who the hero of the poem was, analysis does not show. Lermontov's "testament" allows you to look at the life of a simple Russian soldier of the XIX century. In those days, they were drafted into the army for 25 years, during this period many died in wars, and no one was waiting at home for those who remained alive. The poet tells the story of an ordinary peasant guy whose fate was crossed out. Once he had a family, a sweetheart, but the army took everything from him. The neighbor girl had already forgotten about his existence, her parents had died. The hero is not even saddened by his imminent demise, nothing holds him on this earth - this is what analysis shows.
Lermontov's "testament" contains a hidden meaning. It is as if the poet foresees that his life will be short-lived and intuitively seeks death. Many scholars of Mikhail Yurievich's work and literary critics are convinced that this poem can be considered prophetic, and the author himself had the gift of foresight. It is possible that Lermontov wrote The Testament, not at all referring to himself, but nevertheless there are some parallels between his life and the fate of an unknown soldier.

The image of a neighbor Mikhail Yuryevich could be attributed to many women whom he admired and considered his muses. Most likely, he had in mind Varvara Lopukhina - this fact is indicated by analysis.
Lermontov's "will" has some inconsistencies with the life of the author himself. In the poem, the situation is presented in such a way that the girl forgot about the hero, but in fact it was Mikhail Yuryevich who broke off his relationship with the woman whom he idolized, believing that he was not able to make her happy.
