Romashina Svetlana is rightfully considered one of the best synchronized synchronists in the world. The athlete is a multiple champion of world and continental championships.
Biography
Svetlana Alekseevna Romashina was born in Moscow in 1989. At the age of five, the future "goldfish" of Russia first came with her mother to the pool. At that time, the girl was already engaged in a dance studio, but it was in the water that Svetlana Romashina fully revealed her potential.
Swimming was very easy for her, so the coaches advised her mother to give her daughter to the synchronization section. So, at 9, Romashina began to seriously engage in sports under the leadership of Tatyana Danchenko.
The future Olympic champion managed to combine synchronized swimming training, ballroom dancing and study at school. After gastritis appeared on the background of constant diets, the girl had only sport left in her daily routine.
Persistent, and sometimes grueling workouts have paid off - at the age of 15, Svetlana Romashina became the youngest in the Russian national synchronized swimming team.
But even the busiest training schedules did not prevent the young athlete from getting an education. After school, she graduated from MGUESI, and then as the second higher education she chose the faculty of sports management at Moscow State University.
Golden sports career
The beginning of a professional sports career with Romashina turned out to be simply stunning. Already at the first world championship for herself, 16-year-old Svetlana makes a โgoldenโ double, winning the group exercises and in combination. A year later, she repeats her achievement at the continental championship in Budapest.
World fame at times was a very heavy burden for a young athlete, because because of the tight training regimen, she practically did not see her parents. On the eve of the Beijing Olympics, Svetlana Romashina wanted to leave the sport, and only her coach Danchenko managed to dissuade the young synchronized girl from this act. As it turned out, not in vain.
During her sports career, Romashina won the world championships eighteen times, and she did this both in solo discipline and in doubles and group performances. Svetlana is also a ten-time winner of the continental championship. At the Universiade in Kazan in 2013, her collection of gold medals was replenished with two more copies.
In 2013, the synchronized synchronist became the best athlete of the year according to the Federation of Sports Journalists, she was awarded the Silver Doe Award.
One of the reasons for Romashinaโs successful career is her ability to be under water for a long time. Svetlana can hold her breath for almost 5 minutes, which is very good for synchronized swimming .
Olympic glitter medals
Romashina Svetlana in 2008 for the first time performed at the Beijing Olympics. She took part in group competitions as part of the Russian team, which was able to brilliantly perform and win gold awards.
Since 2009, Romashina performed in a duet with another famous synchronized synchronist - Natalia Ishchenko. Together they won the London Olympics. But on this โgoldenโ medal rain did not end for Svetlana. Speaking in a group, she became a two-time winner of the Games.
In 2015, Romashina Svetlana missed the home world championship due to injury. There was a question about the end of a sports career. But after some thought, the leader of the Russian synchronized swimming team decided to speak at the games in Rio de Janeiro.
Together with Ishchenko, to the sounds of "Gypsy" the mermaids once again showed their superiority over rivals. And a few days later, the Russian team won in the group, ahead of the strong teams of Japan, China and Ukraine. Thus, Svetlana Romashina became a five-time Olympic champion.
Personal life
Even on vacation Romashina Svetlana can not live without water. For her, sailing is her favorite hobby , and the synchronized synchronist has already managed to take part in several regattas.
For several years, Svetlana has been living in a civil marriage with Nikolai Zakharov. In the future, the "goldfish" of Russia plans to officially legitimize its relationship and become a mother.
