Touchscreen for tablet. general information

A touchscreen for a tablet is one of the key components. It can be said to be fundamental. If not for him, then work with the gadget would be performed using mechanical control buttons.

What it is

touchscreen for tablet
A touchscreen for a tablet or any other equipment is a means of entering information. This device is a screen that responds to touch. It is he who is responsible for supplying control signals to the operating system or applications on the gadget. If we draw an analogy, then the touch screen is a mouse and keyboard for a tablet.

Kinds:

  • Resistive. A touchscreen of this type is a transparent membrane with a conductive coating applied, under which there is a glass containing a similar layer. The principle of operation of this device is quite simple. When you press the stylus or finger on the screen, the membrane and glass are closed at a certain point, as a result of which the voltage changes in it. The microprocessor captures these vibrations and calculates the coordinates. Such a touch screen has a low cost. Also in his favor is the possibility of feedback on touching any objects. But it has low strength and a small working resource, which is about 35 million clicks for each point. And - no less important - the lack of the ability to implement multi-touch. Also, the operation of this display is accompanied by a large number of errors when processing gestures "sliding" and "flipping". This technology is not widely used in tablets. Today you can find single models of devices equipped with a similar touch screen. For example, a touchscreen for the tablet "TEXET TM-7020".

Capacitive. This is the second technology by which touch screens are created. You can only work with such touch screens with your finger or with the help of a conductive stylus. This type of touchscreen can be divided into two categories: conventional and projective-capacitive. In the first type of devices, a conductive layer is applied to the glass. At the corners of the display are electrodes that supply alternating voltage to the coating. When you touch the screen with your finger, current leakage occurs. The microprocessor tracks the point of contact. This is due to changes in the readings of the electrodes, since at the nearest of them the current strength increases significantly and the resistance decreases. Full-fledged multitouch on this type of screen cannot be obtained.
  • A more advanced technology is projection-capacitive. The inner side of the display in this case is covered with a grid of electrodes. When you touch one of them, a capacitor is formed, the capacitance of which is used to calculate the coordinates. This technology allows you to implement a full multi-touch. That is, such a display is capable of supporting 2, 5 or even 10 simultaneous touches. A striking example of the implementation of this technology is the touchscreen for the tablet "EXPLAY sQuad 9.71".

Mounting Methods

Installation of the touch screen to the gadget is done by gluing. The touchscreen for the tablet is mounted either on the display or on the case. In the first case, the adhesive base can be applied only around the perimeter or over the entire area of the screen. In the second case, it is distributed among the body parts with which the sensor is in contact.

Material

The touchscreen for the tablet can be made of glass or plastic. In the first case, the touch screen has lower strength characteristics. Moreover, when it is damaged, cracks are immediately visible. Devices made of plastic are more durable. And with damage, the appearance of cracks is unlikely.
