Serik Konanbekov’s career as a boxer ended in the ninety-first year. But from Moscow there was a call from Viktor Ageev with a proposal to create a Professional Boxing Federation in Kazakhstan. And the idea came from Mendoza - the president of the World Association of this sport. Konanbekov agreed.
At that time, many famous boxers, having left sports, were lost in the realities of life. Some began to find reassurance in alcohol, while others went into criminal structures. Serik Konakbaev, seeing this picture, agreed to create a Federation, hoping that he would be able to help Kazakhstan boxers, who finished amateur performances. Thanks to the new sports organization, they had the opportunity to extend their sports life and make money legally.
Konanbekov was invited to become president of the created Federation. But he refused, although he thanked for the honor. In the Federation, fights began with the participation of foreign boxing stars. And this has become another advantage for "their" home-grown athletes.
Anniversary
In October 2009, in honor of the anniversary (fiftieth) of Serik Konakbayev, a presentation of the book, written by his wife, took place in Alma-Ata. The book describes his successes and victories.
