Denis Boytsov (photos are given in this article) - a famous Russian heavyweight boxer. He was a champion in versions of WBA, WBO and WBC. German newspapers gave Boytsov the nickname Russian Tyson. In the article we will present a brief biography of the athlete.
Acquaintance with boxing
Denis Boytsov was born in 1986 in the city of Orel. Father brought the boy to the boxing section when he was barely five years old. Denis achieved significant results at a young age. So, in 2002, he took gold in Kecskemét. And two years later, the young man won the World Cup in South Korea. In total, the athlete spent 130 fights in amateurs, of which 115 won.
Professional career
In 2004, Denis Boytsov began working with German coach Fritz Zdunek. Their collaboration lasted for five whole years. In the following years, the athlete was trained by Arthur Grigoryan.
The first fights in the professional ring went very easily for Denis. In the 1st round, he knocked out his opponents. Only in 2006, Fighters met a worthy opponent. They became the Brazilian Edson Cesar Antonio. The hero of this article won him points. In the same year, Denis became the world champion (WBC version).
The fighters won another brilliant victory in April 2008. The athlete defeated Robert Hawkins. In early 2009, Denis Boytsov knocked out Carlos Garcia and won the WBA title. A few months later, the athlete met with experienced Ukrainian Taras Bidenko. The latter possessed high speed and excellent reflexes. Nevertheless, the Fighters sent him to the knockout.
Injuries and first defeat
In January 2010, the athlete defeated Kevin Monti. The victory went to Denis is not easy: he injured his hand and was forced to tie with boxing for several months. The injury made itself felt after the victory over Mike Sheppard. Boytsov again had to take a break.
Later on, Denis appeared to have magnificent victories over Darnell Wilson and Matthew Greer. And after the boxer had to cancel fights with Tyson Fury and Konstantin Airich due to injuries and illnesses. Denis Boytsov gained form only at the beginning of 2013 and won two matches: with Alexander Nesterenko and Samir Kurtigich. In the fall, he again had to abandon the planned battles with Alex Leapai, Travis Walker and Derek Chisora. In November 2013, Fighters suffered the first loss in their professional careers from Alex Leapai.
Denis last fight took place in March 2015. The athlete defeated the Brazilian Ireneu Beato Costa in ten rounds.
Present
In May 2015, Denis Boytsov, whose biography is presented above, was hospitalized. The young man was found with head injuries in the Berlin subway. Due to the edema of the brain, the athlete was introduced into an artificial coma. He was later taken out of her and sent for rehabilitation. All costs for Boytsov’s treatment were borne by Ramzan Kadyrov and Akhmat Promotion.
In connection with the incident, the prosecutor's office of Berlin opened a criminal case, suspecting that the boxer was attacked. But then it was closed due to the lack of corpus delicti.
Fighters are still recovering from the consequences of a head injury. According to Olga Litvinova (Denis's wife), during the rehabilitation of the athlete, positive changes are observed.
