The dosimeter DP-5V was developed for use in the army. It is intended for use in confrontation when nuclear weapons are used to conduct reconnaissance of the area for radiation pollution.
general information
The radiation reconnaissance device DP-5V is an X-ray meter. Designed for use in RCBZ compounds. That is, exclusively in radiological, chemical and biological protection. But in practice, due to its excellent characteristics, the device is used not only in them. What radiation does the DP-5V device register when using? It was created in order to measure the level of gamma radiation and the radioactive contamination of individual objects. Units such as x-rays and their derivative (milli-) per hour are used to determine the exposure dose. There is also the possibility of fixing beta radiation.
About functioning

The device starts to work fully in one minute after self-heating. The measured range of gamma radiation ranges from 0.05 mR / h to 200 R / h. For energy, the values range from 0.084 MeV to 1.24 MeV. The device device provides for the presence of six measurement sub-ranges. Counting is carried out on a scale. In this case, it is necessary to multiply the obtained value by the coefficient corresponding to the subrange. The component of the scale, which is outlined by a solid line, is considered as a working section. For all subbands (except the first), an audio indication is provided. The best working conditions: temperature - 20 ° , relative humidity - 65%, atmospheric pressure - 750 millimeters of mercury column. Although the dosimeter DP-5V can function in significantly different conditions. So, it helps to measure the level of radiation at temperatures from -50 to + 50 ° C. Regarding humidity, we can say that it is desirable so that it does not deviate from the recommended value by more than 15%. Although at 98% it is possible to take measurements (although this requires a temperature of 40 ° C. Also, the blog works in water at a depth of up to 50 centimeters. And this is not the limit - the device provides measurements after being in a dusty environment with an intensity of 5 mm / min
Specific properties
Recommended values are indicated for a reason. The fact is that when deviating from them, errors begin to appear. So, for every 10 degrees, up to +50 ° C, 10% inaccuracy falls. Up to 50 ° C, this figure is about 5%. It should be noted that the device does not provide for the possibility of organizing a "return stroke" for the arrow. Therefore, the value at 1-3 subranges should not exceed the overload threshold of 300 R / h. But for a 4-6 subband, the limit becomes 50 R / h.
Health Assurance
The DP-5V device is designed to measure the level of beta and gamma radiation. But for him to be able to fully carry out his work, it is necessary to monitor him, carefully move and protect from negative factors. The mass of the device itself with batteries is not more than 3.2 kg. A complete set in a packing box weighs up to 8.2 kg. Power is provided by three elements of the KB-1 type. One of them is used to illuminate the scale of the microammeter to ensure a working process in low light conditions. The entire power kit is designed to provide continuous operation (without taking into account the need to spend energy on lighting) for a period of at least 55 hours if fresh elements are used. The device can maintain its operability after a series of climatic and mechanical influences, namely:
- To a temperature mark of +65 ° C and -50 ° C.
- After falling from a height of 50 centimeters.
- Transport shaking with a frequency of 80-120 beats per minute and an acceleration of 1000 m / s 2 .
- Vibration in the range from 10 to 80 Hz. Provided that the acceleration does not exceed 30 m / s 2 .
- Beats with a frequency of 80-120 units per minute. Provided that the acceleration is not more than 150 m / s 2 .
What is included?
First of all, the DP-5V itself should be mentioned. The device device provides for the presence of a detection unit, a case and a telephone. The kit includes a hose extension, voltage divider, a set of operational documentation, a packing box and spare property.
How is the measuring device arranged?
The DP-5V includes a measuring console and a detection unit. They are connected using a flexible cable, the length of which is 1.2 m. On the detection unit is a control source. The remote control has the following main components: converter boards, bases, chassis, casing and power compartment covers. The last three are made of pressed molding material. They are characterized by high mechanical strength. On the upper face of the casing are:
- Microammeter scale backlight toggle switch.
- Subband switch with 8 positions.
- Microammeter scale.
- Reset Button
Instrument controls are mounted on the chassis. A cable is connected to the base of the meter, which connects the detection unit, telephone jack and remote control. The circuit elements are mounted on the converter circuit board. It is also attached to the base with a screw on one side and a hinge on the other. Below (at the base) are power sources.
How does the device work?
The most important detection unit. It is completely tight and has a cylindrical shape. It has a board with gas discharge meters and other circuit elements. The DP-5V device provides for the presence of a steel case with a window, the task of which is to detect beta radiation. For sealing use a plastic shell. The design of the device provides for its fixed position. When determining values, gas discharge meters play an important role. They, under the influence of gamma rays and beta particles present in the medium, ensure the generation of electrical impulses. Those get to the input of the amplifier-normalizer. Already, together with the discharge chains, it contributes to their normalization and processes to conveniently inform a person about the state of affairs.
The integrating circuit averages the value of the pulse current. Its value is proportional to the average power of the exposure dose of fixed gamma-beta radiation, which, in fact, is recorded by a microammeter. Power supplies are needed to provide power to the voltage converter and backlight. In this case, a constant low value (which range from 1.7 to 3 V) is converted to 390-400 V. All this is necessary to power the amplifier-normalizer and gas-discharge meters. And why was the phone included in the DP-5V device? It is connected to the remote control for sound indication signals. When working with this device, the radiation safety requirements must be observed. They include:
- Maximum distance from a radioactive source.
- Minimizing the residence time of the device in the raised position.
- Use of serviceable and charged personal dosimeters DK-0.2.
- You should always try to reduce the time spent by personnel in the immediate vicinity of the container with the source and in the irradiation zone.
General recommendations for use
Now that the purpose of the DP-5V device is quite clear, you just need to go over the issues of maximum safety of the device. What needs to be done for this? Watch the general safety of the device. It is necessary to regularly clean it from dirt and dust. It is not necessary to leave the device turned on during a break in operation. This results in unproductive expenditure of power sources. When turning the knob, do not apply much force. In preparation for the march, it is necessary to inspect and verify the kit and its performance. If there are no problems, then the DP-5V device should be put in a laying box. In most cases, it is envisaged that the movement should be by car. In this case, it is desirable to place the instruments in the front of the body. During the transportation process, the device must be protected from shock, jolts and falls.
