The original is not only an eccentric man who catches the eye of passers-by. This wonderful word has more meanings. What kind? We will analyze today, as well as synonyms and examples.

The meaning of the noun

The dictionary gives us only two positions:

1. The same as the original. For example, there is a famous painting by Vincent Van Gogh “Sunflowers”. The reader has the good fortune to watch a copy here (see photo), and the original is in the National Gallery of London.
2. About a man who stands out against the general background. For example, one who this May lives exclusively on the calendar, and not on the weather, and walks in shorts. Of course, the original can be not only a picture, but also a manuscript. For example, at a time when computerization did not gain such frenzied momentum as it is now, typist labor was very much in demand. Believe it or not, some writers still do not part with their first typewriters, although a laptop is more convenient in this sense, but the typewriter makes you choose words more carefully, because you just can't erase them with the backspace button. Okay, we got distracted again.

Before moving on to synonyms, I would also like to share with the reader the meaning of the adjective “original”, because often in colloquial speech the adjective takes the place of the noun. But we are not far from the topic of books. The original is what concerns printed products directly.

After all the meanings of the object of study are revealed, we can proceed to the words-replacements. Consider them:
