Pablo Osvaldo is one of the most controversial personalities of modern football. This footballer was extremely talented, but his attitude was definitely unprofessional. As a result, he showed everyone that football was clearly not the most important part of his life, as he ended his career at a fairly early age due to the fact that the sport interfered with the tour with his rock band. But still it is worth paying attention to the sports part of this football player’s life, as there were times when Pablo Osvaldo saw a real attacking genius.
Carier start
Pablo Osvaldo, who was born in Argentina, began his career at a local club called Hurricane, but he didn’t get there right away. In 1995, when he was only nine years old, he ended up at the academy of another Argentine club called Lanus. There he spent four years before moving to another club's system, Banfield. And only when Osvaldo was fourteen years old, he was looked after by “Hurricane”, who invited a talented striker to his academy. It is the graduate of this club that is officially considered Pablo Osvaldo.
In 2004, when he was eighteen years old, he signed a professional contract with Huracan and immediately began performing at the base, which attracted the attention of European clubs, in particular Italian ones. The fact is that although Pablo was born in Argentina, he is officially Italian, so he himself was looking for a way to return to "his" country. And 33 matches in which he scored 11 goals gave him such a chance. 19-year-old striker for a nominal fee signed by the Italian club "Atalanta".
Italian period
Pablo Osvaldo, whose biography is extremely rich in a wide variety of clubs, started in Europe at Atalanta, where he spent six months and played only three matches, after which he was sent on loan to Lecce, where he showed himself well. He spent 32 matches, scoring eight goals. Naturally, this did not go unnoticed by large Italian clubs - FC Fiorentina laid out as much as three million euros for a young and unknown player. The club did not regret it - for a year and a half spent in the camp of “violets”, Osvaldo played 38 matches and scored eight goals. But it was clear that the level of such a club as FC Fiorentina, at that time, Pablo could not stand it. Therefore, in the winter of 2009, he moved to Bologna, which gladly paid seven million euros for him. The management would know what mistake it was making - for 26 matches the striker scored only three goals, so it was decided to rent it out. Among those who came was the Spanish “Espanyol”, which revealed the talent of the Italian striker of Argentinean origin.
Exit to a new level
Pablo Osvaldo is a football player who did not show anything special in the first segment of his career, but already paid more than ten million euros for it. But still he did not turn out to be "fake" - he just needed the conditions in which it would be possible to open up, and he found this in Espanyol.
The Spanish club rented a striker for half the season for five hundred thousand euros, promising to pay another four and a half million if he wants to sign it on an ongoing basis. For those six months, Osvaldo played in 20 matches and scored 7 goals, which impressed the management of Espanyol, who agreed to arrange a full transfer. It was then that the 23-year-old striker opened up - in the next season he scored 14 goals in 26 matches, after which he immediately received an offer to return to Italy.
This time one of the country's strongest clubs, Roma, wanted to see him in his ranks. The Romans paid as much as 16 million euros for the young striker, and for two years he showed good results - in 58 matches he scored 29 goals. Immediately from “Roma” he was bought by the English “Southampton”, who paid a little more than 15 million euros. And it was from this moment that the fall of Osvaldo began from the pedestal, on which he was not so long.
Rent
In “Southampton” Pablo did not stop - he managed to play only 13 matches, scoring 3 goals, when his character revealed. He began to receive removal, was fined and even suspended from training. Moreover, he himself later admitted that English football did not suit him. As a result, Osvaldo went on a lease - at first he ended up in Juventus for the remainder of the season, which began in England. There he played in 18 matches, but scored only three goals. Then Pablo was sent for a year to rent at Inter, but from there he returned ahead of schedule, as he first hit his partner in training, and then began to skip training without any reason. As a result, “Southampton” had to urgently look for him a new club - consent was given by the Argentines from “Boca Juniors”. There, in less than six months, Osvaldo played in 16 matches and scored 7 goals. But the lease was over, and Pablo had to return to Southampton, who, having failed to find new people who wanted to rent a football player, broke off his contract.
Recent attempts
Throughout July 2015, the striker tried to find a team that would agree to sign a contract with him - as a result, the Portuguese “Porto” agreed with Pablo on short-term cooperation. The forward played 12 matches and scored only one goal - of course, the club did not extend the agreement with him, and Osvaldo was without a team. Fortunately, the Boca Juniors club agreed to host him , where he spent a good end to the 14/15 season. But after six matches in which the striker did not score a single goal, the contract with him was broken - not for sporting reasons, but because of a conflict with the head coach, who caught Osvaldo with a cigarette in the locker room. As a result, since May 2016, Pablo was without a team, and everyone was waiting for where the indomitable forward would go this time. But in early September, to everyone’s surprise, the 30-year-old striker announced his retirement - as already mentioned, in favor of his rock band.
