In order to decorate and diversify your speech, you need to know how to pronounce and write different parts of speech. The adjective is a difficult part of speech, nevertheless the spelling rule "Case endings of adjectives" is not the most difficult in Russian. Itβs just that you have to treat it carefully, competently. Let's consider in more detail.
Despite its independence, the adjective is completely dependent on the vagaries of
the noun. On the one hand, it serves him as a grammatical unit, and on the other, it only improves its quality. The main interaction of these parts of speech is consistency. Initially, there is an agreement between them that the noun will govern, while the end of the adjective will stand in the same way, number and case. It is these relationships that influence spelling. The whole secret is that the correctly written
ending of the adjective is a correctly asked question from the boss noun. So, we solve two problems for ourselves:
- we find a noun that is related to the adjective in meaning and ask a question from it;
- define the ending in the question and write the exact same ending in the adjective.
However, there is one interesting point, without knowing which, a serious mistake can be made: the end of the adjective may not always coincide with the end in the question. The fact is that our rich Russian language has pitfalls and, when declining the latter, came up with two spelling options, and even a feature for masculine adjectives. The hard variant of the declension assumes that the letters -
O, -Y, -A will be entered at the end of the adjective
, and
I, -E, -I in the soft
. Consequently, adjectives in the masculine gender have the endings -
OY, -YY, -II (provided that the noun is in the singular and nominative case), while in the female it will be -
,
- , and, accordingly, in the middle gender -
OE, EE. With subsequent declination, these features are preserved.
In practice, it looks like this:
- "The JARK was bright ... SUMMER .. the sun . " Explanation: from the noun sun to the adjectives of the middle genus, hot summer, we ask the question (what?). In question, the ending is OE , which means in words the ending is OE . But the word summer has a mild variant of declension, therefore, it has an ending - EE .
- "GREEN followed by rail .. SPEED .. SOCHINSK ... train . " Explanation: here it is clearly seen that masculine adjectives are singular, which means that you need to write an ending on the question (which?), And we get green, speedy, Sochi . Do not forget to consider the presence of a solid variant of declination.
- " Today the street was COLD ... WINTER ... weather." Explanation: to insert the ending into adjectives, I ask them a question: is the weather (what?) Cold, winter .
Thus, in order not to doubt how to write the ending of adjectives, it is necessary to find their semantic connection with nouns. And the noun, as a good friend, will tell you what to write at the end of the adjective. And do not forget about special cases of writing.
