Paul Ekman was born in 1934 in the city of Washington. He studied at the
universities of Chicago and New York. In 1958, he received a Ph.D. in
clinical psychology from Adelphi University
. After that, he began to work at the Neuropsychiatric Institute. From 1958 to 1960, Ekman served as an officer in the US Army. Having given his debt to his homeland, he returned to college and worked there until 2004.
He began to study body language and facial expressions in 1954. On this subject, the psychologist began scientific practice in 1955, and in 1957 his first publication was published. After this, Ekman studied social psychology and the differences in the cultural strata of the population for 10 years. He also studied facial expressions and related human emotions.
